    Schwarzsee close to Kitzbühel

Schwarzsee is a small lake in the east of Kitzbühel, in a drivingtime of just a few minutes from the centre of town and the local bus is going there as well. There are two restaurants, a large carparking and also a swimming-area with a wonderful park and various hiking-paths around the lake. From Schwarzsee you will have an excellent view of the surrounding mountains like Kitzbühler Horn.

Aurach is situated in the south of Kitzbühel (4 km) right in the middle of the Kitzbüheler Alps. Here there is Aurach Wildpark with a small alpine zoo. Its a pleasant half day to hike up here from kitzbuhel and to visit the animals here.

As you can gather our weather wasn't always wonderful in Kitzbuhel but it didn't stop us geting about. Just a couple of kilometres outside Kitzbuhel is the Schwarzsee - and even in the storm is was striking with its autumn colours and reflected vista of the Kitzbuheler Horn.

    Stop and enjoy the trees

by MelanieBee Updated May 15, 2005

People tend to go straight to the top of the mountains without stopping to admire the trees below the tree line. You can't appreciate their size until you are standing under them.

The view I really wanted of the Schwarzsee is this (taken from the net)...a beautiful clear reflection, ah sigh, have to come back here some time.
