A wider open landscape with softer forms is found around the Gerlos pass which is at the border between Tirol and Salzburg, reached from Mayrhofen via Zell am Ziller . Here is also one of the artificial lakes of the system, the Speicher Durlassboden. The area around the Gerlos pass is an excllent skiing area. Leave a Comment |
The Ahorn Ski Area is a small resort that you can ride with your Mayrhofen "Ski Zillertal 3000" lift ticket. Because it is not connected to the rest of the area by gondolas or chair lifts, lots of people just miss it. The gondola to the Ahorn leaves from the village of Mayrhofen, rising from 670 meters up to 2000 meters. Most of the runs are easy, some intermediate. It is an area perfect for familys. But there is one run that makes the area interesting for experienced riders, too. The Talabfahrt that goes from the mountain top more than 5,5 kilometers to the valley. The slope leads through a forest, sometimes broad as a highway, sometimes really narrow. I was at the Ahorn twice on great powder days. Because it wasn't crowded we made some great runs in untouched snow. Leave a Comment |
This nice picture was taken on "hidden" ski route that connects the main ski area of Mayrhofen with the Eggalm ski area. Just take the blue run No. 3 and then follow ski route No. 1. The ski route is beautiful. It leads through the forest and passes small creeks like the one on the picture. The Eggalm area is also part of the greater Ski Zillertal 3000 area. So you don't have to buy an extra lift ticket to ride there. Leave a Comment |
