  • Wildspitz

by ozsyd Updated Apr 4, 2011

About 20 minutes away from Obergurgl is the village of Vent. Go the the Wildspitz hotel and have a meal there. The pizza is the best in the valley!

Obergurgl Restaurants

There are lots of places to eat and drink on the mountain at Obergurgl/Hochgurgl but the Nedderhutte is our favourite. It's got the best position, it has the friendliest staff, and it has a good menu. It knows this and its prices are sometimes 50% more than the other huts.

Owned and run by Sissy and Rudi, the same owners of the Gamper hotel, they run a slick operation. Most meals at lunch time appear within 2 minutes of you ordering it. The staff have wireless order pads and the orders sometimes comes out while they are still accepting orders at the table!

Favorite Dish: The chicken wings and the ribs are the best meals. Their fry up also looks good and their Kaiserschmarn is also very tasty.

Other meals tried are the fried mushrooms, soups, and sausages. All excellent.

Located at the Hotel Wiesental, Manfred and Rosie dishes up excellent food at reasonable prices. The restaurant is a bit more formal than our other favourite - Josl - but for a special meal, it's worth the visit.

Lunch meals are cheaper than dinners, and there is a terrace for the sunny days.

The wine list is also very good, offering some excellent, aged Italian wines.

Favorite Dish: Rosie's schnitzel recipe is the best in the village. She has a special Sunday lunch where you can eat as many as you want. They are so big they overlap the plate!

Other meals are also of the highest quality. You can't go wrong here.

One of the restaurants where locals go and eat, this is one of the best value restaurants in Obergurgl. The Gstrein family run this place and is part of their 3 star hotel and basement 'country saloon'.

The food is consistently good - with the Kaiserschmarn being one of the best, if not the best, in Obergurgl. The wine list is also diverse with good value drinking from various districts. The espresso here is also the best at Obergurgl!

Obergurgl Shopping

There are many ski shops in Oberburgl but the team at Lohmann is the friendliest and the range the best. The main store is near the post office.

What to buy: Get a pair of Strolz custom foam boots or inners from Gunther. He fits more than 1,000 pairs some seasons so he knows what to do!

Go and see Manuela or Melanie and get a pair of Kjus ski pants and parka.
