Zimt & Zucker: sweet souvenirs from "Goldenes Dachl"

by globetrott Written Jan 15, 2015

    3 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

"Zimt & Zucker" (cinnamon&sugar) is the name of a great bakery & Konditorei close to the famous "Goldenes Dachl" and besides plenty of other great chocolate balls etc. they had a clever idea of a sweet souvenir from Innsbruck :

The Konditorei "Zimt & Zucker" is open daily !
    In winter : 09.00a.m. - 06.00p.m. In summer : 09.00a.m. - 11.00p.m.
On sundays and public Holidays they will open not before 10.00 a.m.

Favorite Dish: I can recommend to you to taste a "Goldschindel" (golden tile)! It is made of gingerbread, coated in chocolate, and wrapped in a golden cellophane-paper. It might make a perfect sweet souvenir to take home !
One of these tiles was 3,30 Euros in 2008, the standart price for gingerbread, home-made by confectionaries.

by globetrott Written Jan 14, 2015

    3 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

What a great idea to build a panorama Cafe into the ski-jump on Bergisel . Cafe im Turm is certainly the best choice, when you like to have a perfect view on a nice and sunny day !
This ski-jump was built for the olympic Wintergames of 1964 and 1972 and is still used for the Neujahrsspringen every year.
    ---------------------------------------
The restaurant is open dailyJune - October: 09.00am untill 06.00p.m.
and From November till May daily except Tuesdays: 10.00am - 05.00pm
upon reservation they even open the restaurant also for groups
Last entry is 30min before closingtime !!!

Favorite Dish: they have great cakes and coffee in the afternoon and they also serve excellent meals, although I think that the perfect panorama is the best you may get there !!

    by desert_princess Updated Apr 22, 2011

Jeeez , I am salivating just thinking of them!!!
I love spinat , I love cheese , and a Spinat Knödel has it all. This is a traditional local uncomplicated dish that I would highly recommend to all that are not living only on meat.

Local Alpine Hütte: Best food on the Alps...

by Tripack Written Feb 28, 2007

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Have a break... always choose a nice and cosy place to eat and drink. I prefer the small restaurant (alpine Hütte) which is generally a little remote from the main downhill slopes not a big self service with tasteless food.

Have a look on the skiing area plan to find it or ask the locals during the way up on a chairlift...

    Htte sweet Htte...

Weinhaus Auracher Loechl: Great Food, Great Atmosphere

by tericee Updated Mar 28, 2005

The beginnings of the Auracher Loechl date back to the 15th century, when the building was run as a brewery. Over the years the tavern grew and finally became a restaurant, called "Weinhaus Auracher Loechl."

The interior is all carved wood with lots of antiques on the walls and shelves. They have live music on weekends; the night we were there a man was playing the harp.

Favorite Dish: This place was so good we ate there Friday night and Sunday afternoon in the same weekend. Everything our group of four ordered was fantastic, but the high points were the Senf Steak, the red cabbage, and the special Schoko Kuche we had for dessert.
