Seefeld was a village where I found many a sculpture situated through-out.I first visited St. Oswald Church, and it was here I found the face carved into the rock and two other sculptures [photo's 1&2], both I believe are about St. Oswald.Walking further, on the side of a building, was one I couldn't make out. [photo 3]. Was it a Dragon?Perhaps...more
If you are wandering around the village like I was, then you will be sure to see the Parish Church St. Oswald. It is located right in the centre of Seefeld, on a small rise overlooking some of the village. All I could do, was wander around the outside of the Church, as a Service was being held. The Church dates back to 1263, and is dedicated to St....more
It was Spring and quite cold, only 8°. A walk around this pretty town found many garden beds full of Tulips, Daffodils, Pansies and many other varieties of flowers, so pretty and a nice addition to the streets. The flowers were in beds and in flower boxes sitting on window sills. At the back or front of the Casino, which ever way you look at it, I...more
A Casino in the small village of Seefeld in Tirol, came as quite a surprise to me! I guess a Ski Resort often has quite rich and famous people visiting, that would come here for evening entertainment. I read you can play Roulette, Black Jack, Baccarat and gaming machines. Many events are held, including fashion shows, live shows, game tournaments,...more
The Olympis sports and Congress centre, has a Cinema, Restaurant, Congress centre & sports facilities and Swimming pool for indoor and outdoor swimming. These sound great....Underwater massage loungers, I would like to try them! You can experience the Sauna, or perhaps have a massage or take an Aqua-fitness lesson. In Winter, ice-skating is popular...more
This is the name on an old Tower I found at the entry to a shopping centre carpark in Seefeld in Tirol. I have tried to find information, but can't. What I can tell you, is to walk all sides of the tower to see a mural, a sundial with an inscription underneath in German, and the coat of arms.more
The ones in my photo's are two I found in Seefeld. I really liked the ball. The ball is floating on water, and the movement of the water was causing it to roll, quite interesting to watch for a few minutes. It was located in the Dorfplatz. The rock wasn't anything spectacular, just another piece of artwork!more
Lüftlmalerei is a form of mural painting that includes trompe-l’oeil and illustrative motifs, often of biblical scenes, or sometimes highlighting what the residence does. Eg. I saw cows and farmer painted on a Dairy. Seefeld has buildings decorated in this form of artwork, one I really enjoy viewing. The village isn't large, so not a long way to...more
The Heiligdreuzkirche is a gorgeous small Church located on the outskirts of Seefeld. You can walk to it, I didn't as it was on the road we were taking out of the Village. The Church was built by Archduke Leopold V in 1629 and completed in 1666, and is the symbol of Seefeld. It's also known as the Seekirchl, [Little Church in the lake]. There wasn't...more

This is the one and only HAIR SALON that I have ever seen in an IGLOO.You read correctly. In Seefeld, located next to St. Oswald Church, I saw an Igloo with "Neils Hair Salon" posted across the entrance way. It was closed, and I didn't need anything done to my hair, so I viewed from the outside.I found the website has photo's of the inside, so have...more
Shopping, well, all I needed were some postcards and they were easy to find, as there were quite a few souvenir shops stretching from one end of the main street to the other. I had a browse in a few of the shops and found quite an assortment of gifts, and on a rainy day, Umbrella's took prominence! The rest of the time, I window shopped. I found...more

Since 1969 every first weekend in august the flower Corso takes place in the pedestrian area of Seefeld at about 2.30 pm. Hotels and restaurants compete for the best-decorated cars or vehicles. The decoration - of course - consists of flowers!
At about 6 pm the distribution of prices takes place on the main square.
The picture shows the vehicle of Hotel Klosterbräu who won the first price in 2003, a beautiful venecian mask!
For more pictures of this Flower Corse go to my travelogue.
Don't do too much - take your time to relax!!! Otherwise you will be too exhausted to enjoy the place!
Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: If you go to Seefeld in wintertime - be sure to bring good shoes with you, because it can get very slippery on the snow and ice!
As we were leaving Seefeld, we saw two Ski jumps located on the outskirts of the village. These were the Toni-Seelos Olympiaschanze, named in 1948 after the skiing legend Anton Seelos. Before the Olympic Winter Games in 1964, the ski jumping hill was enlarged and a 14 meters high tower was built. Today mainly competitions of Nordic combined take...more

Since I am getting more and more into playing Boule I am also interested in related sports.Curling is played on ice and it has more or less the same idea behind it as Boule: you have to try to get your stone/ball as close to a given point as possible and your opponents will try to either get closer to the goal or remove your stone/ball from the...more
