In our case the trip to Serfaus started in Munich (we had a plane from Moscow to Munich).
The closest railway station to Serfaus is Landeck. And the shortest way from Munich is:
1. To get a train from Munich to Innsbruck (about 2 hours)
2. To get a train from Innsbruck to Landeck (about 1 hour)
3. To take a bus from Landeck to Serfaus (about 1 hour)
The train to Landeck was about 10-15 minutes late and the bus was waiting for it even it should left Landeck earlier. As we understood, the most of bus passengers are expected to come to Landeck by this train, so, don't worry to miss the bus :)
And by the way back the train from Innsbruck to Munich came to Innsbruck about half an hour later. So, be ready than it can happen so, especially if you have to get to airport in time

Serfaus is a small village but it's stretching for about 2km along the mountain.
There is subway with 4 stations: near the car parking place (at the entrance to the village), 2 stops at the village center and one near the cable-car station.

Serfaus is more or less a pedestrian car-free area, To achieve this they built about 7 years ago a genuine subway, one and a half km long, four stations called "Parkplatz", "Raiffeisenkasse", "Kirche" and "Seilbahn". When arriving by car you have to park it before you even see the village and walking a few steps you reach the entrance to an underground station from which the train leaves approximately every 10 minutes to bring you either into the village or to the funicular, erfaus is deinitely the worlds smallest settlement (approx .1000 local inhabitants) with own subway. And probably the only one where the transport is for free in wintertime.

Serfaus can be reached by bus or own car, the roads are well kept, open all year round, no dangers for avalanches and plenty of parking space outside the village. Next railway station is Landeck, a 30 min.ride by bus away.
