The restaurant buehnedrei is directly located IN the Bregenzer Festspielhaus (Congress and Festival House Bregenz). Inside it provides capacity for around 80 people, whereas the terrace in summer is huge - also with lounge area. It is a non-smoking restaurant (which, so far is not usual in Austria). It is opend all year round, but keep in mind that the opening hours adapt to the season (close early in winter). They offer a 2-course set menu for lunch for less than 7 Euros and two other dishes. Their choice an cake and ice-cream is quite big, therefor it is very popular in the afternoon hours - also because of its terrace and the playground which is only a hundret meters away. The menu in the evening is not big, but everything is from best quality and taste. There are no special meals for kids! During the summer season - when the Bregenz festival takes place from mid-july till mid-august, they also have BBQs on sundays.
Favorite Dish: Well, as the menu changes about every 4 months i do not have a special dish to recommend, and tasts are different so just go there and try it yourselfe :-)
I am really fond of asian food - or food in general haha - and if you ever wanna enjoy a really nice dinner, in a noble setting, with good service and a nice view - got to Chen's Dining!! It is located right above the Restaurant Manga - they two belong together. Its selection of dishes is very wide. As i heard are the chefs in the kitchen from 7 different countries from Asia, so you can expect really professionals and therefore authentic food!
Favorite Dish: Lychee Sekt as appetizer - easy to drink and just different to normal sparkling wine
Mango Duck - fresh, fruty , tasty - just perfect!
Manga is the ideal place for people who like fresh asian food - sushi, maki, fried rice/noodles, duck .... It offers by far the best quality for not much money and the dishes are sufficient, not too big, not too small - so still space for a dessert :-) Its interior is minimalistic in white and orange and some Manga designs on the wall. In summer they also have a terrace where you can sit outside, but as it is located at a busy road and next to a trainstation I dont know if i would recommend that. Anyway it is one of my favourit places to go :-)
Favorite Dish: Mini Spring Rolls, Fried Noodles with vegis and turkey, peanut ice-cream
If you don't mind eating lots of meat at a decent quality chain restaurant, try the Wienerwald, 11 Bahnhofstrasse.
Favorite Dish: Their Grillhendel Wienerwald (grilled chicken breast on roasted peppers and courgettes) made my tastebuds stand up and salute. Can't speak of the desserts as I was always full up after the first course!
The Hafenrestaurant, at one end of the building shared by the shipping companies and Bregenz-Hafen railway station, where I sat in the sun munching a massive portion of Bodensee whitefish panfried in butter, with new potatoes and fresh vegetables, while with a single sweep of my gaze I could watch the trains passing through and the boats docking and casting off. Idyllic - the whole meal, with dessert and mineral water, came to 25 Euros.
Favorite Dish: I couldn't believe it when the waitress brought my order - a pan piled high with three big pieces of fresh Bodensee whitefish drowning in butter, with a dish of new potatoes and another of fresh vegtables - all for me, it looked enough for two or three! Deeelicious.
The restaurant is located right at the harbour so it was a good deal for us after our stroll. Coffee and apple strudel with vanille ice cream rounded our break. It was very yummy. They also serve fish and meat dishes.
The ambiance is friendly and the serving personals as well. The restaurant interior is simple but cozy.
ANOTHER GOOD PLACE TO EAT AND WATCH THE EVERY DAY LIFE WAS THIS PLACE AND FOR £16 buys a three-course dinner in the Maurachbund, a classic "local", where everyone shares the wooden tables. Expect hearty dishes, such as venison, followed by Topfennockerl (dumplings) for dessert.
Favorite Dish: THE DUMPLINGS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Fr-Sa: 17:30-00:00 ONE OF MY FAVORITE DISHES ANYWHERE I GO IS SOME SORT OF FISH..
THE FISH AND ALSO VEGETABLE DISHES WERE VERY WORTH THE WAITING...
Favorite Dish: HAVE TO BE THAT FISH WITH WHATEVER SAUCE THEY PUT ON THEM...
ALSO THE DESERTS ARE ALWAYS A FAVORITE OF MINE...CHOCOLATE ...PLEASE!!!!
Its a charming, imaginative, and popular place near the Opera festival stage and park. For those unfamilar with the beer offerings of Mexico you can try a variety at this colorful cantina. They also serve a variety of tropical themed drinks complete with a few palm trees to create the ambience of a seaside local.
I will defintely return next time I have a burning desire for the taste of a Dos Equis or Tecate, which I often miss. They even got it right by serving it with a traditional lime wedge (most places offer lemon if anything)!
Favorite Dish: For those who know Mexican cooking avoid the menu altogether. They managed to find sweet tortillas, offered "salsa" that tasted like tomato sauce from a jar (of the Naples style) and their choice of seasoning gave an Asian taste to all entries. Imagine biting into a sweet curry burrito or Hunan "fajitas".
That said the food is tastey and perhaps they should market the joint as the region's first new world fusion spot. It is a comical experience to see how folks so far from Latin America can dream up a cusine. I found myself trying to think up a new name for the place and settled on the Clueless Cantina.
But the locals love the place so don't expect the kitchen to change anytime soon. Order a cool one between a tourist agenda for a taste of home, if you ever lived in that part of the world or the west of the US, or try a rich Mexican beer for the first time they are the only real Mexican items offered.
Oooohhhh...If you like it rich and tasty, then this is the place for you! All local cuisine, all the time. Not for the faint of heart!
Favorite Dish: spaetzle with goat cheese, chocolate mohr imd, schniztel, etc. etc. I like it all.
I was only there for the day and didn't eat in a restaurant, but my recommendation for an idylic meal is go to the Spar at the top of town and pick up some bread, cheese, ham salad etc and take your packed dinner down to the lakeside and watch the sun set while you munch, beautiful (and cheap too!).
Fresh air, water lapping at your feet, lots of sparrows eating your dropped crumbs and a beautiful sunset!
Favorite Dish: Waldorf Salad
Must be a nice surrounding for VT´s, because the canvas on the seats is actually a worldmap.
Favorite Dish: I had spaghetti with garlic, oil and pfefferoni. Superb, - with a beer I asume, that
cost me the magic number 111ATS. Good meal- fair price.
The restaurant Galileo is located just 200 meters from the 4-Länder Hotel Deutschmann. In this restaurant you can taste a good italian cousine with a good choices of pasta, pizza and more!!!
