by PetraG ... in the heart of the town but still surrounded by countryside With this modern multi-purpose building the town of Dornbirn has an event and conference centre to suit every requirement. Equipped with the latest congress technology, and with its infinitely variable modular venues, it has firmly established itself as an innovative meeting place. At the "Kultur- und Kongresshaus Dornbirn" (Dornbirn Culture and Congress Hall) all the facilities that you would expect of the very best confer-ence venues are provided with corporate hospitality. It offers the necessary space and the appropriate surroundings required for conferences, con-gresses, seminars, cultural or business events. Leave a Comment

Dornbirn Main Square by PetraG Dornbirn is hardly considered to be a tourist town yet is still attractive to newcomers. More and more business travellers are discovering the charm of Dornbirn and its area. They return and spend a few days here on holiday with their family or to go on excursions to the 3 other countries easily accessible from here. The most beautiful excursions are Liechtenstein, Switzerland, south Germany and Tirol, none of which are particularly far. Lake Constance with its cultural and agricultural beauty, Zurich, Munich, Ulm, Innsbruck, Lucerne, Lugano, the swiss Alps (Davos), St. Moritz and Arosa all lie within a two hour radius by car. Dornbirn by PetraG Near the Hohenems parish church stands the palace belonging to the Counts of Waldburg-Zeil (1562), in which two manuscripts of the "Nibelungenlied" were found in 1755 and 1779. During the 17th C. a Jewish community settled in Hohenems, and in 1771-72 a synagogue was built, which now serves as the fire-brigade headquarters. From the palace a footpath leads up in 40minutes to the ruined 12th C. castle of Alt- Ems (713m/2,339ft) and to Glopper castle (Neu-Ems; 14th C.). From the top there are superb views over the Rhine valley to Lake Constance. Leave a Comment

In Dornbirn it is possible to take a gondola up to a beautiful viewpoint called the "Karren". From here you can see all of Dornbirn and the surrounding landscape, including the Alps and the Boden sea. Have lunch at the modern restaurant at the top of the "Karren", and then walk back down again. The walk will take about two hours, and along with the view you will see lush green fields and old Austrian farm houses. Leave a Comment
