the CAT makes sense mainly for the Hilton

When you arrive at the airport of Vienna a lot of advertisments will give you the feeling that the CAT is the only,the fastest and the very best way to get to Vienna...BUT in fact it is only the best way to get to the the station Wien MITTEand is perfectv only when you stay in the city Hilton-hotel!Forthe CAT you have to walk endless corridors at the airport and also in station Wien MITTE When you stay closer to Schwedenplatz, Suedbahnhof or Westbahnhof I rather recommend to take the airport-bus : No long and confusing corridors to walk at the airport, you just get out into the air where you are leaving after customs and there is bus is waiting. In some case it makes sense to take the CAT, when leaving Vienna : in case that you have booked a Star Alliance Flight (AUA, Lufthansa,...) you can check in your luggage already at the station Wien-Mitte 24 hours up to 75 minutes prior to your...

The hop on hop off ripoff

This bus goes around the Ringstrasse just like the Ringtram, except for a little sidestep at the Stadtpark,Stephansdom and Heldenplatz, but that does not really bring you any advantage IMHO. The buses are leaving at Schwedenplatz and the full tour is about 60 minutes, so if you hop off once with the 1hour ticket you cannot get the whole circle even in the shortest intervalls (see the list below) and that is why I call it a rippoff.Stations where you can hop on and off are : Staatsoper-Heldenplatz-Unversität-Schwedenplatz - Stephansdom - Hilton Hotel - Kursalonbetween July 1st and August 31st the busesare leaving every 15 minutes!between April 1st and June 30th + Sep.1st - Oct 31stbuses are leaving every 30 minutesfrom Nov. 1st till March 31st every full hourthe ticket for 1 hour is 13 eurosfor 2 hours it is 16 eurosand the dayticket is 20 euros Take at least the 2 hour-ticket in case...

AIRPORT - For transit passengers

This happened not only to me. Other people have also been misleaded. Signalization for transit passengers is not good. you might get to the baggage claim zone. they will advise you to go out and in again . BAD ADVISE!!!!becareful with the customs police. their are extremly strict with the amount allowed of cigarrette. i have 23 (one box closed and the other with 3 ) cigarretes more beside a big pack (200) in bought in my travel origin (japan) and i had to pay a fee of 25 euros. i had also to leave 40(cigs) two boxes. si la violacion es inminente ....relajate y disfruta
