Favorite thing: Although Wienerberg is not on many people's visiting lists, some of my fondest memories are connected with park around lake at Wienerberg, southern Vienna district. Bushes in this park are not being cultivated (I assume because of the birds) so it all gives a scent of wilderness, except the trails that are settled. Actually it feels like being in swamp and I assume that is why I liked it so much. Many people use it for walking and running, so was I. Signs say that fishing or bathing is forbidden, but actually people don't obey that. During weekends this is relaxation point for many people. During winter it is frozen and used for skating.
Fondest memory: Fresh air and beautiful nature of this place make this one of most special parts of the city for me.

Favorite thing: One of the things that make this city special is what is going on in the streets and parks. There are open concerts taking place, some shows, many street musicians, as well as stalls where they sell seasonal things, like roasted potatoes, chestnuts, young wine (sturm) and punch that keeps you warm during cold winter days! ;) ).
Fondest memory: My favorite concert was concert of ethno music in Augarten. Also it was interesting for me to see how many people find punch stalls as great meeting point even during coldest winter evenings.

Favorite thing: Although it is not very popular to admit, shopping facilities of Vienna impressed me. I have found main shopping centre SCS (Shopping Centre Sud) quite uninteresting, but some shopping streets within city, especially Mariahilfer Strasse impressed me if not for shops only (although they are quite impressive) then for vividness. Districts of Neubau and Josefstadt northern of Mariahilferstrasse are places I find well worth visiting. There are also some of my favorite pubs there.
Some other good shopping areas:
1) Favoritenstrasse
2) Meidlingerhauptstrasse
3) Millenium city.

Favorite thing: BigNet Cafe is an Austrian chain of internet cafes. They ahve three locations in Vienna. They are relatively new and clean, with lots of computers, telephone booths, and a snack bar.
The one in Salzburg had a 3 Euro All You Can Surf deal, but the ones in Vienna don't, but the Vienna locations are still competitively priced.
Fondest memory: BigNet Cafes are located at:
Mariahilferstrasse 27, 1060 Wien
Kaertnerstrasse 61, 1010 Wien
Hoher Markt 8-9, 1010 Wien

Favorite thing: We were amazed at how cheap international phone calls home to Australia were from a large Internet Cafe and International Phone Centre 100 metres from where we were staying. It had 2 floors of computers, at least 100 computers, plus 2 international phone booths. On the Sunday morning we rang home and spoke for 4 or 5 minutes the cost being 65 cents. We made regular calls during our week's stay and they were always less than one Euro. It was cheaper to use their phone than the phone card we had purchased in Australia.I think they have at least 3 other cafes in Vienna, sorry I forgot the name.
The address is: corner of Theobaldgasse and Windmuhl gasse just 20 metres from Mariahilfer Strasse, very close to the Museum Quarter. Mariahilfer Strasse is the main upmarket shopping street.

Favorite thing: Me in the park on Maria-Theresa Platz >:) taking as usual unusual photo LOL :)
but let's talk about the museums themselves.
Naturhistorisches Museum and Art Museum are the identical buildings divided just by this cute park. They are build according the idea of G. Semper an C. Hausenauer in 1881. The husband of Maria Theresa - emperor Franz I - ardent collector established the first collection of stones and other natural stuff and residents of Vienna should see it in 1765. However, after the building of NHM it is there since 1889 and in permanent enlargement. Now you can see it in 39 halls.
As highlights there are treasures like jewels from Austria, the bunch of jewels of Maria Theresa, stairs of smaragd or 117kg topas.
For those who find boring seeing stones and things like this there is a great exposition of animals, fosils and also -sauruses :)However, children can play in the hal ldedicated just to them :) and adults can observe the rare exhibit of the History of Austria including famous Venus of Willendorf.

Favorite thing: The Mariahilf Kirche is an oasis of calm on bustling Mariahilfestrasse - the Oxford Street of Vienna. It was designed in the early 1700s by one of the Habsburg's favorite architects, Johan Lukas von Hildebrandt, who put his lasting stamp on so much of the city. The courtyard in front of the church is dominated by this statue of Haydn, who briefly served as organist for the church.

Favorite thing: The Vienna card seems like a good deal especially if you want to do lots of cultural things. There are 180 discounts you can get for things such as museums and sights, theatres, concerts, shops, restaurants, cafés and Heurigen and it costs around 16.90 Euro. It gives unlimited free travel for 72 hours within Vienna (after which you could buy just a usual travel pass if you plan on staying longer). You can get it at hotels, the Tourist Info (1st district, Albertinaplatz, open 9:00 am – 7:00 pm), at sales offices of the Vienna Transportation System (e.g. Stephansplatz, Karlsplatz, Westbahnhof, Landstrasse/Wien Mitte) or from anywhere by credit card (+43-1-798 44 00-128). You will get a small book with the card that explains how you use it.

Favorite thing: As the Christmas is approaching, streets and squares of Vienna get filed up with Christmas markets. It is not about what they are selling but about liveliness, colors and scents around them.
On the photo there is the biggest Christmas market in the front of Rathaus. Markets in Neubau may be even more interesting.
Fondest memory: While Christmas and New Year are coming nearer, Vienna is getting decorated and it is ovefflown with joy and expectation. After New Year it feels kind of dull.
