get your bearings by climbing -- or taking the elevator (lift) -- to the top of St. Stephen's Cathedral, the geographic and spiritual center of Vienna. Located on Stefansplatz, it is impossible to miss. And the view is unforgettable.

an absolute must is to see the St.Stephen's Cathederal. A huge cathederal with lots of differnt styles in there. If you get a chance then go to see the roof! Very cool but not open for normal tourists. But try!
Then you have to see the Belvedere. It's a castle. The architecture is georgeous and the museum in there is one of the best I've ever seen. Have a look on it!
Another museum which is also a must is the 'Albertina'!
Another street you should have a look at is the 'Kärntner Street' and the 'Maria Hilfer Street'. Those are nice shopping streets and our answer to the American shopping malls. Here the Americans can see what they are missing!
Then there is the 'Prater', a fun park in the middle of Vienna. Doesn't cost any entrance but you need a ticket for every ride. Most of them aren't very interesting but don't forget to get on the 'Riesenrad' and don't forget to drink beer in the 'Schweizerhaus'!
Also you have to go to see an opera. Even you don't like operas you would enjoy the athmosphere, the people, the architecture,... and don't forget that the Vienna Symphonic Orchestra, one of the best orchestras of the world, is playing there for normal!
Fondest memory: Sometimes they are dark & difficult, but that's just temporary... as soon as you get to the top, everything brightens up! Kinda like life...
You really don't want to miss this St. Stephen's Cathedral, Tall Gothic spires and a colourful roof, mark out this famous city landmark.
Favorite thing: Be sure to look up! A lot of the architectural detail is on the upper facades of buildings. This is a detail from the side of Stephansdom.
Favorite thing: A close up of the roof detail of St. Stephen's. The roof is very ornate and is one of the Cathedrals most striking and beautiful features.
Favorite thing: This is the unmistakable sight of St. Stephens Cathedral. It seems to be a fact of life that every Cathedral I ever see is surrounded in scaffolding, and this is no exception.
