 | Vienna museums Reviews | Tips 31 - 40 of 42 | | I have to say that we were very fortunate to have fantastic weather for our entire time in Vienna (as well as Salzburg, Budapest and Germany). Having said that, nothing beats sitting down at an outdoor cafe on a warm summer day drinking a nice cold Gosser Lager in the midst of the Museumsquartier. Leave a Comment |
Funny little museum in the old city centre, proclaiming to have the largest collection of clocks and watches of all kind in the world. Especially great is that every full hour, all clocks will make their sounds at the same moment. Petty, this museum has closed it's doors in May 2007. It would have been funny to visit it with Ilja, but alas ... The end: http://wien.orf.at/stories/108248/ Leave a Comment |
Please note that there is a senior entry rate for entry to the KHM. It is Euros 7 for those over 65, as opposed to Euros 10. It is not posted, so one has to ask. There is usually a seniors' rate for most of the entrances to the museums, so ASK. By the way, KMH is the only museum/gallery where 65 is the age for seniors; in all others it is 60. That's a painting from Gustav Klimt - very famous - which I saw in the exhibition. Leave a Comment |
This great museum shows functional art in all it's varieties, adding changing expositions. The museum of contemporary art is just outside the city centre "Stadtpark" and especially worth a visit when you have little more time then for a city shortbreak only. Twin museums facing each other in the museum quarter just outside of the Hofburg Palace, historians delight. Of the two, Kunsthistorisches is home to the greatest collection of paintings. Also contains an armory, historical musical instruments, statues, where one can wander the royal halls alone, undisturbed, in awe. Leave a Comment |
Visit the Museum Quarter. Built on the site of the Emporer's former stables, it is a remarkable tour-de-force in Architecture. Embellished by the grandiose buildings that surround you here are numerous statues, fountains and colorful gardens. Leave a Comment |
