There are lots of shops, selling souvenirs and one of them is in the square of Stephan Cathedral. Mostly all the main souvenirs are there: Mozart sweets, Vienna coffee, alcohol... Of course, the prices there are bigger than in not the centre, but, I should say, overall location is good.

Alcohol drinks, sweets, coffee and more.

Lot of euros, depends what you want.

The biggest market in Vienna. It’s a great place for going from stall to stall and trying the local foods for lunch. The Definitely a must see.

main items sold are fruits/vegetables, cheeses, spices, stuffed olives and peppers.

In October 2002 I had a look in Dorotheum and found this original autograph of Sven Hedin - most of you might have heard of him as an early globetrotter and travel-book-autor of the 19th century... 60,- € was too much for me, but is might be an example for you, what to get there, besides stamps, antique books...

Dorotheum is mainly a place for auctions - but many things are also for sale right away. - and also the building itself has a great interior

Antiques, Art nouveau furniture, Thonnet-chairs, stamps, and all sorts of collectibles

it depends - but I am sure, if you look for collectibles you get them for a reasonable price there

most shops selling postcards and stamps will have the ordinary - everyday-stamps only... If you have a look at a local postoffice - they always have a large display of special stamps - for the same price - but with a great design, like here the Hunderwasser-house

This is one of the main shopping street, Kartner Strasse. Pedestrian only, it is situated within the old town, it consists of upmarket and souvenir shops. A good place where to buy cheap Vienna guide books is round the corner from where the main Hundertwasser houses are, by the main drop off points for most coach tours.

Great way to save money while
on vacation

Since we were staying in a furnished apartment, we decided to do our shopping at the local food store. This was a great idea because eating in restaurants for breakfast. lunch and dinner could get quite expensive.

Since we already had cookies, M & M's, cheese, butter, sandwich meat, jam/jelly, laundry detergent and mineral water in the apartment, we shopped for the following items: Vollmilch ($0.95 euro) Coca Cola ($1.19 euro) Zwettler Beer ($0.79 euro) Stiegl Beer ($.082 euro) Weizenbier ($0.94 euro) Toilet Paper ($2.19 euro) Fleischknödel ($1.39 euro) Mushrooms ($0.69 euro) Bread ($1.69 & $2.29 euro) Morartkugeln ($4.69 euro) Ritter Sport Chocolate Candy ($0.79 euro) Ice Wine ($11.99 euro)

It depends on what you purchase...we paid anywhere from $0.69 euro for mushrooms to $11.99 euro for wine.

Zotter Display stand on the

If you are looking for something a bit different to the globally available Milka and Mozart balls to satiate your chocolate cravings or to give as a gift, then Zotter chocolate is a great gift to give. It is widely available - from large supermarkets, Wein & Co., Demmers and many souvenir shops. Prior to Christmas there is also a 24 bar advent calendar version - a real sin, but oh, what a pleasure. The bars have nice designs on them and come in a wide range of unusual flavours - Apple and Berberitzer and Strawberries and Black Pepper are two great examples.

A bar will cost EUR 2.90 a throw - but is a delectable experience. For the advent calendar (24 bars) expect to pay about EUR 65.

I thought I'd gone to heaven, when I found this place. This is my favorite shop of all times. They have a stunning variety of foods and drinks from chocolate to cakes and wine to coffee and from cheeses and pastas to hams. I couldn't stop myself, I was like a kid in a candy store! When I finally managed to leave, I had bought two big bags of goodies...They sell the best cookies I've ever tasted, too.
