Der Anker Clock in Hohr Market

    Der Anker Clock

Another terrific place you won't want to miss is in the Hohr Market, where at 12 noon everyday, a crowd gathers to watch Der Anker Clock spring into action. Both Music and figures depict the history of Vienna. It takes about 10-12 minutes and is well worth it. The clock dates back almost 100 years and is a marvel! Get there a little early and try the wurstel stand on the corner and taste the best wurst & a beer in Vienna. There is also a great Internet cafe in the Market to catch up on your email!

    The Vienna 'Naschmarkt'

There are a lot of younger pubs and bars to be found in the so-called 'Grätzel' (residential sub-districts of Vienna). The Vienna Naschmarkt scene is particularly dynamic. This lively marketplace selling fruit, vegetables, meat and fish is rapidly growing into a multi-ethnic culinary rendezvous. Have a Kebab for only € 2,50 or eat Sushi at fabulous To-Ko-Ri, drink a coffee at Segafredo or have an after-midnight-dinner at 'Gräfin am Naschmarkt' (opened 5 p.m. to 2 a.m., 4 to 8 a.m., on Saturday all through the night!). Whatever you do you won't feel like being in Vienna anymore...

The Secession is a grand example of Jugendstil in Vienna and this building is really gorgeous with a dome of lace like gold leaves. Inside, the Secession houses Gustav Klimt's Beethovenfries. Using paint and canvas, Klimt rendered his interpretation of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony and it was awe inspiring.

Again Karlsplatz station and the red building in the middle is the Musikverein, where the famous New Year’s concert takes place.

And whilst licking your ice, you can watch the time go by on this famous clock, the Anker Uhr (also in Hoher Markt).

THE SECESSION: the golden leafwork dome and Gustav Klimt´s Beethoven frieze alone would justify a visit to this gallery, built in 1897 / 9 by Joseph Olbrich.
