There are 4 paintings in the Austrian Gallery which exhibit the human senses of sight, hearing, touch & smell. It's one of the more interesting exhibits I found in this Gallery. Other important works which you should look out for are those of Gustav Klimt, Egon Schiele, Oskar Kokoschka & Herbert Boeckl. The Austrian Gallery is where you'll find nearly all the paintings of Gustav Klimt (not the Secession). Yes, I know a lot of you have seen pix of Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer & "The Kiss". I've also seen them b4 visiting this Gallery. But, to say the truth, I've been to many museums in the world & have seen a great deal of works of art... but, it's only here at the Gallery that paintings by an artist came alive & a must-see in person. These are the paintings by Klimt. It's NOT the same seeing them in person. It's quite a unique experience for me, one I wasn't expecting but was pleasantly surprised nonetheless. Picasso, Van Gogh, Rubens, Dali, etc, etc... all those great artists... I don't have that experience. But here, I finally saw something valuable (to me, ie). & unfortunately, & rightly so, these paintings are not allowed to be photographed! Hence, you have to go & see it for yourself. & tell me if you feel the same :-) Leave a Comment
