 | Vienna Belvedere Reviews | Tips 81 - 90 of 182 | | The spectacular Belvedere palace is definately a must-see activity for visitors in Vienna. I put the closeup view at the very top of the page, now this is the super-long distance view of the entire grounds of the palace. Lovely gardens with water ponds, birds, and other great stuff like that! This is a nice place just to come and view, check out the rooms and the palace grounds, trying to imagine what it would have been like back in the day when the royal family inhabited this place. Belvedere, a complex with a winter and a summer palace and lovely gardens in between. It is where prince Eugen had his famous parties. wonderful rococo architecture. Leave a Comment Other Contact: My mum and I in Schonbrunn garde |
Okay, admit it, how many times have we rushed around on the last day trying to fit in everything we were hoping to see. For me, one these places was Belvedere Palace. This is conveniently located a stone's throw from Sudbahnhof station. Next time I'm in Vienna -- No, I really mean it -- I am going spend more time there and at Schloss Schurnbrunn Palace. 2 magnificent palaces, that must be on your list of places to see. And don't be like me and wait until the last minute! Leave a Comment |
Housed in Belvedere Palace and not only a fantastic array of their national art treasures but in a setting that rivals Schonbrunn Leave a Comment Other Contact: www.belvedere.at/english/dmain/m |
A nice pleasant two or three hours sight seeing, wander round the grounds, sit in the park, drink coffee and just relax Leave a Comment |
SCHLOß BELVEDERE. This summer residence belongs to Prince Eugene of Savoy, a gift from the emporer. The garden is impressive and filled with sphinx (as pictured.) There is a number of museums located there (eg Baroque Museum, Museum of Medivial Austrain Art) |
Also included in collection of Belvedere Galeries is The Baroque Museum. Hall of Grotesque is pretty impressive & definitely worth a visit! Leave a Comment |
Belvedere museum has the most significant Austrian classical modern artworks by Schiele, Klimt, Kokoschka. When I visited the museum there was a modern abstract surrealist exhibition called THERE IS SOMETHING U SHOULD KNOW. Mixture of nudes, dead rabbits and strange movies. Feeling confused but very curios, I tried to ask what was the whole idea. Nobody could tell me anything. Were they trying maybe to induce a feeling of confusion and anxiety ? Where they trying to make us more aware of what we do or what we are?? Obviously, rhetoric questions.. Here's me, meditating & asking for a revelation:) Crazy modern art, right? These two palaces were built for Prince Eugenio of Savoy who was the commander of the Austrian Army who defeated the Turks in 1683. The upper palace called 'Upper Belvedere' is the most imposing one. The two palaces house the 'Österreichische Galerie Belvedere' an artistic gallery full of paintings from some of Europe's most famous painters. The lower palace also houses some medieval art.
