Most people miss the Hundertwasserhaus when visiting Vienna. This house, designed by Hundertwasser (how original), has unique colors, windows, shapes, ... Never seen something like this !!!

The Hundertwasserhaus is a municipal apartment block created in 1985 by the artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser, who wished to strike a blow against what he saw as soulless modern architecture. The result is a building that some perceive, with its irregular bands of colour and onion dome cupolas, as more like a stage set for Hansel and Gretel than a block of council flats.

A curious piece of art, conveying the views of its creator on what an ecological living environment should be. There is one more Hundertwasser house in Vienna, not far from the first one. I also liked the Brauer house, its architecture is not as sophisticated as of the Hundertwasser, but it has beautiful wall paintings on it.

Here's another artwork of Hundertwasser. My sister and I were admiring this building but realized how putrid it smelled. We saw garbage trucks entered this plant and our mouths dropped open. It is true, this lovely place is a garbage incineration plant. Worth the visit?

We generaly go to Europe to apppreciate historical buildings but you should check out KUNSTHAUS WIEN by Friedensreich Hundertwasser. The design is innovating and imaginative. His modern artwork set in a traditional city is provocative and refreshing.

The KunstHausWien should not be missed. Models of Hundertwasser's grandiose ideas of humanity co-existing with the earth. There was a model where he envisioned people living in hills and under meadows. It looked cool and I guess he thought out how one would keep warm...

Hundertwasserhaus--color and patterns splashed all over an apartment building...who would've thought? Hundertwasser created this monument to nature in opposition to concrete and sterile factory-like buildings in which people presently live.

Make sure you see the Hundertwasser buildings and museum and all the Art Deco buildings--including the Secession with the Klimt paintings. Vienna's architecture is beautiful, don't leave without walking around and seeing as much as you can!
