    Schönbrunn Palace gardens - Gloriette

by jglsongs Written Jan 31, 2004
    Gloriette

In the gardens of Schönbrunn Palace, make sure you venture to the Gloriette, the ornate pavilion at the far side of the grounds, opposite the palace itself.

    time after time?

Schönbrunn is an excellent place to get lost among the numerous paths and secluded glens - "boskets" as they are properly known. It's also an excellent place to get lost in your thoughts!

    Baby Elephant of Vienna Zoo

Tiergarten Schonbrunn (also known as Vienna Zoo) looks back to 250 years of history, and features quite a few exotic animals, even such rare species as the giant panda. Definitely worths a visit.

    Schoenbrunn garden

Tree-shaded walkways crisscross Schoenbrunn's garden and statues are partially hidden in the green hedges. I prefer Schoenbrunn's more picturesque and friendly garden to Versailles'.

    Schoenbrunn

The summer residence of the Habsburgs, Schoenbrunn rivals the palace of the Sun King in ambition and opulence.

    A view of Schunbrunn

Beyond description, the money that must have been spent to build and maintain these grounds is staggering.

    Gloriette in Schnbrunn Park

The Schönbrunn palace in the outskirts of Vienna is a beautiful palace. Together with Munich's Nymphenburg palace, it is my favorite piece of royal architecture in Europe.

It's the Austro-Hungarian version of Versailles, and specially beautiful on the inside. Sometimes there are music concerts held in it.

It is a very beautiful Palace from Maria Theresa. Now you can see only 40 rooms but it has 1441 rooms inside. It has a lovely beautiful garden. Even walking in the garden worths the visit.

This is THE sight in Vienna, if you were only there for one day I would recommend this along with the city center walk. You probably need a day here to see all the sights, though.
