Although I would not exactly call it a tourist trap this is not the first place I would visit on a short trip to Vienna. Nevertheless the ferris-wheel is a landmark in the city and from it you’ll have a great view. There are several restaurants around, f. ex. the famous Schweizerhaus, overcrowded most of the time. – By the way, the ferris-wheel and post-war Vienna was the set for Carol Reed´s film “The third man” (1949) after the novel by Graham Greene, starring Joseph Cotten, Orson Welles, Alida Valli, Trevor Howard etc. A classic espionage thriller. A guided tour around the Opera House is really not to be recommended, as the groups are extremely large and you really don't see much. The cost is Euro6.50 for about half an hour and this is definitely not good value. Leave a Comment
