 | Vienna Bus,tram&Metro Reviews | Tips 171 - 180 of 183 | | The POSTBUS serves the route from the city departing at WESTBAHNOF,SUDBAHNOF and stops in front of the FLUGHAFEN (AIRPORT). (Maybe it works the other way round too) The cost of the ticket from WESTBAHNOF is EUR 6 one way and the ticket is bought from the driver upon embarking the bus. note: From WESTBAHNOF Metro,go up the escalators, turn right, head for the exit, there's a sign with the plane picture on it.Thats the waiting point for the bus. My experience of this bus is good. I arrived at about 7.15 to catch the 7.30am bus to airport but the bus broke down.Within 10-15 minutes, the replacement bus came and we were off to the aiport. What a relief! Leave a Comment |
There are few lines of buses to and from the airport. There is a bus that will take you to the edge of the city centre to the Swedish square (Schwedenplatz) and in that area actually there are few nice pensions and guesthouses, so it can be very practical using it. Leave a Comment |
There is a comfortable and relatively cheap shuttle bus leaving every 30 minutes from Vienna Westbahnhof (train station West) to the airport. It also stop at Vienna Südbahnhof (train station South). It took us about 30 minutes to get there. 1st bus leaves West train station at 5am and last bus arrives to Vienna airport at 11.35pm. PRICE: 6 euro for a one way ticket. Luggage, up to 4 suitcases, is included in the fare. The Airport shuttle bus also operate on other routes. Check for them at the website below. |
There's a really easy bus that goes to the central city and back to the airport every half hour or so. Exiting the airport, buy tickets from the driver by the big, red buses. Get off at "city center" and you can just walk into the Old Town at St Stephens Platz from there. Leave a Comment Theme: Bus |
Vienna is a great hub in that it is a great place to connect to Eastern or Southern Europe. I spent 3 full days trying to get to Romania without success so I strongly advise that you go well in advance of your date of travel to a long distance journey like Bucharest or Kiev. Not only do you have to book ahead but you must show up early at the bus stop. Most bus drivers to Romania etc like to take the locals over the foreigners so be careful when you check in at the bus station or you will end up going back to your hostel disappointed. We took the Postbus from the airport to central Vienna. We chose the bus to Schwedenplatz, which placed us at a good location just north of St. Stephens beside St. Ruprechts. The buses pick up passengers just outside the front doors of the terminal, and you purchase your 6 EUR/person ticket on the bus from the driver. The trip takes about 30-40 minutes, but this is the least expensive way (other than regional train service) to get to downtown Vienna. The buses are very clean and modern and the driver spoke good English. Leave a Comment |
we've traveled by tram in Vienna and it was great. Comfortable, quick and easy. You may take a whole day ticket and it's ok to travel. Theme: Other |
First of all, go to the unofficial website http://homepage.univie.ac.at/horst.prillinger/metro/english/ and read all about lines, maps and tickets options. I found very useful the 8 day ticket. If you travel in two (like me and my girlfriend), you can use it for 4 different days, spending just 24 euro, and you can use it in all of Vienna's U-Bahn, trams and buses. The average waiting time is 2 minutes at peak time. The maximum is 7 minutes, but normally you just wait no more than 3 minutes. The underground in Vienna is VERY SAFE. You can go with your camera in your hands without any thief problems. Probably the Karlsplatz station is not the best at the night, but during the day there is no problem at all. Leave a Comment |
I took this picture from Hotel Intercontinental in Vienna which is just next to the Stadtpark U-Bahn Station (Vienna's Underground System). Stadtpark is about 5 minutes away from Stephensdom by the U-bahn. Leave a Comment Theme: Subway/Metro |
