Not everyone speaks English

by irvbur

Do not assume the cab drivers speak English. Have someone at the hotel desk write out your destination(s) in the local language on the back of the hotels card. Write the same thing in English on the front of the card. Use a separate card for each place you want to visit. Show the card to the taxi or bus driver. Make sure you have the name & address of your hotel written in the local language. Keep the cards, they make great momentos.

Immunisation against Ticks

by morgenhund

One of the delights of Austrian countryside is being able to go for a walk under the strong summer sun. Unfortunately, however, there is a quite considerable problem with ticks - especially in the North Eastern part of Austria. If you intend to go hiking, you would be well advised to have an injection beforehand - there is an injection available in Austria - usually it is effective for about three years (Zechenschutzimpfung)..

No need to buy the pictures

by BruinKristin

If you go white water rafting in Austria, no need to buy the expensive pictures they sell at the end of the trip. You can take a picture of the picture!!! I know that's cheating, but hey these were expensive and the dollar exchange rate is abysmal. See my husband's thumb to the left of the picture...

Join in have fun!!

by nhcram

Whilst out one day we found a lovely bar in the mountains that had live music. The guys in the band wore traditional costume and they clearly loved entertaining the locals and tourists alike. The bar soon filled and many people were clapping and joining in. The clapping part was good as everybody did it at different speeds! It was great fun and it certainly made you stay and have more beer and schapps! This bar was in the Bad Goisern area about an hour from Salzburg

Hard to get, but worth it

by dr.firas

It is indeed hard to get to this church of Hofburg, it is a Neo-Baroque dome on St.Michael's Tractbut the most difficult is to have it in a picture, as you wont be able to be far enough to take it in a picture, as it is situated in a nearrow street!

Advice

by dr.firas

If you come by car to Vienna, you will be forced to park it and take a ride by feet, but it is not that easy to find a parking place, and most of them are paid, best way to solve this problem is to park your car near the hotel and take anyother transportation you like to make your touristic tour!

Well after the dinner with Angelika, we were talking about Piano's as we both play, so I asked Angelika to play a little, but she was shy LOL then she promised to play one day later, so I found myself in the corner and played some Valses, but the Piano was really old, and not easy to play in!LOL
