Backpacks are ideal. Very warm clothing if you go at the same time as I did, trainers are good and so are shoes that have grips on the soles. Whatever you usually use, a high factor sun cream (If you are going on the snow), after sun, anti-septic and plasters. A normal camera will do with extra film and batteries. Ski gear would be an excellent idea if you are going skiing or snow boarding.
I was in Austria in April of 2001, and this is what I experienced. In Vienna, I got a terrible sun-burn in the 88F weather, no clouds, rain, etc, just sun. After taking a two hour train ride to Salzburg, I was greated with a light rain/snow, and 34F weather, clouds, and no sun. In Innsbruck, I had heavy snow one day, then the next day it was 65F and sunny, with occasional rain. Pretty variable climate I'd say. Be prepared and bring an umbrella

If you are going to camp at Van Senales be prepared for the weather! Can't stress enough that you should bring a water-proof tent or at least a big tarp. Also plenty of fuel for your camping stove or you'll end up tryin to roast your marshmallows with a lighter like we did!!!!!!! Bundle up even in the summer! Though it gets warm the weather is irradic so layer! And.....always bring your swimsuit because all the hotels have heated indoor pools-HEAVEN! Bring money to get a hotel when the weather gets too bad!
Nothing special. Austria is a fully developed, highly civilised European nation. There's not a lot that you cannot buy here, even in the smaller resorts. I bought all my film (12 rolls of APS and standard 35mm) at home before I went to Austria. Here it's about 9 Euro for a roll of 36. In Austria I ran out of films so had to buy some more. I found they are only about 4 Euro per roll there! So I could have made quite a saving to buy all my films in Austria. Beach clothes? Lol, well you don't need any - there's quite a bit of naturism in Austria ;-) Outdoor gear? Well, what you would take anywhere - good walking shoes or boots, waterproofs (though we had sun sun sun), rucksack, etc. It depends what you're gonna be doing. For day hikes - you don't need too much. Bring money. Lots of shops (supermarkets) don't take Visa! This really caused us a headache as we intended buying food and...
For me the best time to visit Austria is spring time, the weather was incredibly nice both times I was there in the spring. I was travelling through other countries in Europe, and I needed a large luggage for my clothes and a smaller one for my toiletries and papers. This is an elegant European Capital, if you plan to attend any opera or concerts, you better be prepared and dress accordingly. Take with you, anything you will need in this category, things are not inexpensive in Austria.

Rucksacks Good walking boots/shoes and light clothing for walking in. Rain-wear is also advisable for the odd shower. Austria is an excellent place for the keen photographer, so pack plenty of film, films batteries etc can be purchased in most shops and petrol stations around the area.
Not important as long as you bring a back sack ski clothes ski boots ski's and / or snowboardin short ski equipment Suntan lotion nothing special neede!Austria has 220 volts! snowboots warm clothes and a good humor!

You can buy anything you get in western europe - and definetly everything you might need for your trip.So unless you think local prices are too high for you... you can buy it here too.
backpack waterproof raincoat, wintercoat, boots, climbing shoes and gear, bathing suit towels, umbrella you can get film everywhere
