K&K Hofbäckerei Edegger: in Graz

by globetrott

K&K Hofbäckerei Edegger Tax is a traditional bakery and confectionary in Graz / Hofgasse with a long tradition :Don't miss this great confectionary and bakery - HOFbäckerei is a title that only those backeries were allowed to use, that were delivering their goods to the royal court, and of course the taste of the emperor was a certain guarantee for perfect goods and service !Click on the link below and take a look at their interesting web-page !! Specialities like "Sissi-Busserl" and "Kaiser-Zwieback" can be tasted there still today ! Hofbäckerei Edegger Tax with the golden royal eagle on top of their entrance-gate - that is certainly the most beautiful of all shop-facades in Graz. When you enlarge my picture, you may see some of the fine wooden decorations and inlaids, the whole facade was recently restored.Be prepared that this bakery is a bit more expensive than others in that area !

Lebkuchenhaus in Petzenkirchen: Your children will never forget it !

by globetrott

The Hänsel & Gretel's Gingerbread-House in the "Haubiversum" is a place that your children will never forget ! There are great and funny decorations and the food tastes excellent with freshly made bread and cakes.Knusperhaueschen is the name of the restaurant of Haubiversum and with a lot of great details it is decorated with gingerbread, even the windows are made of gingerbread. Walk around and search for Haensel and Gretel, for the cat of the witch and the animals of the woods. Take a seat inside or in the garden-restaurant, there is a lunch-dish served every day between Monday and Friday and for groups with more than 20 people they can get special arrangements upon reservation:Knusperfrühstücksbuffet for 4 euros:a buffet-breakfast with coffee, tea, ham, cheese and a large variety of bread and rollsand the Hänsel & Gretel Menü for 7 Euro:soup + organic noodles with pesto and other...

SERVAS: THE BEST 24 HOUR RESTAURANT IN VIENNA AIRPORT

by DAO

Servas is by far, the best 24 hour/7 days a week restaurant inside Vienna Airport. OK. It’s the only 24 hour restaurant. How is it? Flaming marvellous! Where else can you get a good tasting mixed grill plate of meats and a cold Weiss Beer at 1am after a long day of travel? Here that’s where! This is essentially a Truck Stop Diner. If you think I am joking, just look at some of the clientele. How do you think they get all the supplies to the airport at night? Like any good Truck Stop the customers are fat because the food is actually good. It’s good. I enjoyed my food, the service and my beer(s). At night everything is made to order. No old saggy fries here! Hot fresh food. Servas is actually Italian, but here they serve Austrian food. The menu is fairly extensive given their hours. They never close and they never stop serving beer – ever. That’s awesome in my book. This also has to be one...

Ischler Alm: Great Austrian Food in a Cozy Setting

by DueSer

Located in a very small spot (there are only 7 tables in the entire restaurant - one waitress and one cook), Ischler Alm is a quiet getaway in the midst of Vienna's hubbub. They offer a wide variety of food - all Austrian and delicious. Kas Nockerl - spaetzle (a kind of pasta) with cheese and bacon is out of this world. The spaetzle is perfectly cooked, the portion generous and the different ingredients blend together so well.

Café Konditorei Aida, Vienna: Excellent cakes and pastries

by hopang

Café Konditorei Aida located next to St. Stephens Cathedral in the first district is an excellent expresso bar serving excellent cakes and pastries. It is a very popular Viennese coffee house not only for locals but also for foreign tourists as well. The coffee house has comfortable seating and has mainly pink coloured interior. Even its waitors and waitresses wear pink uniform. Its business hours are between 7.00 a.m. and 8.00 p.m. daily. The coffee house is beautifully decorated and illuminated in the evening and at night during the Christmas festive season when we were there. Large crowds can be seen wandering outside the coffee house in the evening and at night especially at Stephansplatz and the nearby walking streets. You may e-mail to the following address for more information regarding Café Konditorei Aida and its menu:- info@aida.at The delicious cakes and pastries are very...

Hotel Sacher, Vienna: One of the best chocolate cakes in the world!

by hopang

When you are having a vacation in the city of Vienna, don't miss the original Sacher-Torte which is essentially a Viennese chocolate cake, a traditional dessert of Austria. It is very popular in Austria and is said to be world famous. The original Sacher-Torte was invented by Franz Sacher in 1832 for Prince Clement Wensel von Metternich, the Chancellor of Austria. The cake basically consists of double layers of extra sweet chocolate cake and a thin layer of apricot jam in the middle with dark chocolate icing on the sides and on top. It is traditionally served with whipped cream known as Schlagobers.Today the original Sacher-Torte is only available at Hotel Sacher's coffeehouse. The chocolate cake is best served with Viennese coffee! It is more expensive than average but it is a great experience to try it when you are in Vienna! You may e-mail to the following address for more information...

Wirtshaus: Mountain restaurant

Stiftskeller St. Peter: Oldest Restaurant

by DueSer

The church - St Peter's - is famous in and of itself for being the source of Christianity in Austria but it's the restaurant in its cellar that gets most of the attention. Supposedly Faust and the devil dined here together. Considering it's been in business since the year 803, who knows who else could've stopped by for a meal? That's the main reason to go, in my opinion. Being able to say you've dined in the oldest restaurant in Europe is pretty cool. (And really, having been around since 803, is there another restaurant somewhere else in the world that is older? I think more than likely, this is the oldest restaurant in the world unless there's some place in Egypt or Greece I haven't heard about.)Despite its age, this place looks great. There are some tables in the center but also some very cozy, private nooks lining the walls. The lighting is low but not so low that you can't see what...
