Located in the Schloss Schonbrunn, this restaurant has a nice selection of items on the menu including a gorgeous dessert case but what you need to get is the apple streudel. The apple streudel is heavenly. It is served warm and with whipped cream. They have it absolutely stuffed with apples and raisins. It's delicious.
This place is special to us because that is where we ate with my Husbands family, time which meant much to us. This place has a very relaxed atmosphere and being family onwed the people are super friendly and helpful. The service is excellent, the food fantastic. A very good place to go if you want to eat like the everyday Austrian. I had the beef (can't spell it) with eggs and potato salad. This is the 1st place I tried the Knoblauchen Suppe and it was fabulous, I ate it every day wherever I could get it, but this is the best. The Schitzel was also very good, along with their Leberknodel suppe, everything was dished in sizable portions and very tasty and filling. And for the coffee lovers who have yet to experience Austrian coffee, you will never taste anything so good again as the coffee in this city.
One of the great joys for us of a visit to Austria...or to Switzerland and Germany as well...is an afternoon or evening visit to a konditorei for cup of coffee and a nice cake of some kind. Don't do coffee? Then, try some tea or hot chocolate.And, when you order your pastry or cake, be sure to ask for some extra schlag...heavy whipped cream...to top it off. :) coffee and pastries.
It's a family-run hotel/restaurant at the foot of the Wilder Kaiser mountains in Tirol.There are different traditional rooms in the restaurant, one has a window to the cow stable. It's a relaxing place to eat. There is also a terrace for sunny days, a gift shop and a big parking area with pond (beware of the swans, one is quite angry).
This place has a warm and inviting atmosphere. It is located in the heart of downtown Salzburg and open for lunch and dinner. The prices are good for someone on a student's budget but the food is amazing. I would go there at least once a week when I lived there and would try a new pizza variety each time. Pizza. A regular portion is large and there are about 20 different varieties of toppings to choose from.
Basically, its difficult to find halal food in Austria. Stick to Turkish Cafe / restaurants which you can find along the shopping district in Vienna and at the train station in Salzburg. We couldn't find any halal food in Innsbruck and Hallstatt - and this where the portable electric cooking pot comes in (cheapest to get fom Mustafa, price compared to Best, Traveller's Planet and other major department stores. Its a German brand. Comes with a synthetic leather case). It can cook just about anything - rice (which we brought some from home ha ha), instant prepacked food: chicken curry, chicken cooked in chilli paste, chicken rendang, ikan bilis with chilli, maggie, hot water for Milo etc, which most of the time we ate with bread.Not advisable to eat out all the time as the food is very expensive. For a meal of four, we spent about 20 Euros, which is $40 Singapore dollars!!!! That is only...
I don't really like Austrian beer, but their wine is really great. Inexpensive and a good quality. Go on a wine tour in Upper Austria with your bike. It rocks! I do not have a favorite, but Austrian whites are a bit better than their reds in my opinion.
Did you come here for McDonalds? The food is actually more than just sausage and kraut like many think, though it is a bit on the heavy side, I really enjoy eating Venison in the mountains of Tirol or having a big beer and a Schnitzel after a long bike ride.
Lienz did not seem to have many restaurants open on the evening we were there and as it was our wedding anniversary we wanted somewhere special. We chose Sunny's restaurant. It is attached to the Best Western Sonne Hotel in a little square in the centre.The service was good and the terrace where we ate was a lovely place to eat.The price of the meals was good too. The shrimp and avocado salad was scrummy and was just what I needed as it was a really warm evening.
Coffee houses are in abundance in this city but some stand out more than others, We came to Landtmann in the first districf. I felt scruffy compared to most of the people in there who were mostly very well dressed. Opend by Franz Landtmann it is by far one of Vienna's finest coffee houses.
