Don Giovanni: Italian high quality Restaurant in Vienna

by dr.firas

Don Giovanni is simply a wonderful place, we were searching in the streets Angelika and I for a Hotel so I can spend the night as Angelika was about to leave to Bratislava, and we asked the nice wiater how to go, and he showed a coutesy in explaining to us how to go, so after finding the hotel, we decided to have the dinner in that restaurant as the waiter was so gentel, and we were not disapointed, the service is great, the food is yummy, the place is great decorated, the atmosphere is cool, and the prices are really wonderful, so this is a restaurant I advice everybody to go to when you are in Vienna!

Was I Lucky ?...

by coceng

Eating-wise, I was lucky to have staying with friends or rather I just followed them when we out to have something to eat...In Vienna, at least I had the times to buy something to chew on like sandwiches, pizzas & mineral waters while I was walking on my own, seeing the sights.I travel cheap so this is just a way I put foods into my tummy...Can't say to the rest of you though as some of you might want to have a splash in some fancy restaurants around Austria or particularly Vienna...Anyway, the photo was taken at this fancy dining restaurant cum hotel called Sacher...although we only had breakfast there...but it was fancy allright !...

Gasthof Höllwirt: Gasthof Höllwirt

by MVP

The restaurant offers the best of the region's traditional cuisine. It seats 140 and has a large parking area. When the weather's fine enjoy your meal on the terrace. The owner Leopold Höll takes personally care of your dishes and his wife Christa just reflects the friendly atmosphere you will find here.Prices are moderate and children can have their own menu. A real treat are the local fish dishes. Actually it's the fish that are local as they come straight out of the lake. Try the 'reinanke' (a kind of salmon trout) with garlic butter ....

Cafe Klamm, Innsbruck: Great locale cuisine in a warm, friendly place

by 850prc

Excellent Austrian and alpine cuisine. The smell of chickens roasting in the fire pervaded the place, making it difficult not to salivate while ordering.Great beer, great atmosphere, great food. Very reasonable prices. Everything that everyone in our party had was great. I had a spicy Jagerschnitzel. Outstanding.

eating at the butchers...

by clemens

At nearly every butchers store you can order some food to eat.Basically you order a roll and the butcher puts in whatever of his goods you like. One pays then the exact price by weight. My reason to go there is: the quality of the meat is the BEST - and as you pay per weight it's definetly the least cost food. Fleischkäs-semmel: Roll with spam inside. I know this sounds horrible - but austrian spam is rather high quality - thrust me in this one ;-)

'Würstel Bude': Saucage Huts... austrians fast food

by clemens

A 'Würstelbude' is a small shop that usual sells different kind of saucages - starting from the well known hot dog to some local specialities. Quality varies a lot - so unless you know the place I suggest you look at the produced food before ordering.Main reason to go there: prices are low - and some are open till early in the morning. Bosna - 'hot dog' with a white saucage, spiced up with onions, curry and mustard.

Ye good olde McDonalds...

by clemens

McDonalds is the only fast food chain you'll find nearly everywhere in Austria...While I'd like to encourage you to try local food when you travelled to Austria I think it's still worth mentioning. The main reason for me to go there is: they are open quite late (for austrian terms), it's always clean and I never had problems with the quality of the food...

A Favourite Place for Inspiration

by keeweechic

In the past century Vienna was a meeting place for artists and intellectuals who travelled in from other cities and gathered at the coffee houses to talk. .The old cafes always had pens, paper, and writing supplies and they were so amenable that many writers practically lived in them, holding their meetings there and receiving their mail. Although a lot did not survive World War II, there are still plenty of cafes to enjoy. Vienna has long been known as a city of fabulous coffee and desserts. Apfelstrudl is one of the famous cakes in Austria.

Cafe Sacher: Cafe Sacher

by Rhondaj

went here to try the 'famous' Sachertorte. A dessert using butter, chocolate, eggs and apricot jam. It is served with unsweetened whipped cream. Best eaten with a coffee drink. I was a little hesitant to go to this cafe. It looks very fancy and I wear jeans, hiking boots, etc. Finally stopped in though, and even though I felt out of place it was worth the discomfort, for the torte was delicious! ,the coffee, standard. Price: about 8 euros: torte and coffee
