Skiing the Tyrolian Alps

by wannago62

The mountains are breathtaking. I was at peace the whole week, and a feeling of peace comes over me when I remember the week. The price for a lift ticket is about $20 per day. Ski school for my daughter was about $100 for the whole week. I loved the helpful people at Tyrolian Tours (www.tyroliantours.com) who made all our arrangements.

Winter activity

by Helga67

Austria is one of the most famous countries in Europe for skiing. The best area is, without doubt, Tyrol. It offers good skiing, snowboarding and langlaufen. You can get ski passports that cover a whole area, which makes it easy to ski from one mountain to another and use different cable cars or ski lifts. You can bring your own equiment but every village also has equipment that you can hire.

Summer activity

by Helga67

During summertime, Austria is famous for hiking. There are many cable cars leading from the various valleys into the mountains. Of course, you can also go up on foot. On your way up or down, there are always some huts for some relaxing, enjoying the scenery and having something to drink or eat. Good hiking shoes and a walking stick.

Urban Sport Area

Close to the "Prater" is a big park called the "Hauptallee" where people go for biking, swimming, jogging, tennis (in sport unions), soccer, etc. Especially in the summer time people come there for picknick...every year in August is the so called "Volksstimmefest" a small festival of different cultures with Music from Latin America ...Eastern Europe.....Jazz & Blues Music...In Winter families go to toboggan, ice skating, cross-country skiing ... Winter in Vienna is very cold...take warm suits with you!
