I do not mean to diss, the culture of the Voralberg but I am probably somewhat jaded, or at least I was by the time I visited this museum. If you have a deep interest in all of this, then by all means go.
As for me I found the exhibits on the prehistoric past the most interesting, but again this is a subject that I find most fascinating. There is also a ghoulish display of torture equipment that might amuse the children although even with regards to this topic, I have seen better elsewhere. Leave a Comment

Heimatmuseum Holzgau: we looked for it, we think we found it, but we didn't find the entrance door. What we saw was a kind of a barn with a chicken run and very beautiful paintings on the sidewalls.

Yeah, I did. Here's why: If you've already seen Salzkammergut, Hallstatt, Wachau, and Vienna- this place is not for you. Also, if you've only been to Vienna, but don't particularly care about the Sound of Music (This town makes a good buck on The Sound of Music), skip Salzburg. Leave a Comment

It is absolutely worth to go there anyway for the great landscape and surroundings of the island - and for the fans of the TV-soap, plenty of signs are to be found all over Gmunden to easily know, where the scenes are taken for the series...
There are plenty of other hotels in town - but maybe it helps you to have a coffee in the Schloss-cafe Leave a Comment

Do not waist your time or your money to stop at the Swarovski Museum. This is such a trap you will be looking for the exit from the first moment you step in the door... problem is that you have to walk through the whole place to find the exit.
Go to the big store in Innsbruck.

Dorint Budget hotel beside the train station is an absolute no-no! The name is deceiving. All right, the rooms are clean and the restaurant is superb, but we could go for cheaper ones! Leave a Comment
