view from half way up mountain by nhcram Not a big deal to a lot of people but for me it took a lot of courage. Yes I did it. I went up a mountain in a chair lift. The view was spectacular and I was like a kid with new toy and didn't hide my feelings as to the enjoyment and sheer relief that I had managed to do it! All over Austria they can be seen and are safe and reliable. Leave a Comment Theme: Other

Take a trip up the Wilder Kaiser on the funicular railway. At the top there is now a panoramic restaurant which they were buiding when I was here in June 2005. The view from the top are fantastic and there are lots of marked paths for hikers. Leave a Comment Theme: Other

Train in Austrain countryside by Paul2001 Austria is one of the easiest countries in the world to travel in. The is because of the remarkably extensive network of railways that extend throughout the country. Trains in Austria travel frequently so that there is little wait time at stations while travel schedules are clearly posted. The trains are not that expensive to travel on and there is good system of passes that can be used One the great benefits of train travel in Austria is the remarkable vistas you see along the way. I have read in several travel magazines that some of the journeys are to be considered amongst the most beautiful train trips in the world. Sadly one of them, the trip from Bergenz to Innsbruck was taken in the rain and overcast so I could not see much in the way of mountain scenery. However that is one of the many superb trips you can take and my luck was better elsewhere in the country. Leave a Comment

Train to Krimml by Paul2001 If you are going to Krimml Falls from Zell em Zee, I might recommend that you take this delightful steamtrain trip. It is slower than the bus by about 15 minutes but the views of the Alps are lovely. Trains run five times a day up and down the mountain valley. The ride takes about 90 minutes. The cars themselves are quite small and rather quaint. Leave a Comment Theme: Train

By plane to Austria and back! Kharkiv, Ukraine by hunterV Of course it's very convenient to travel to Austria by plane, especially by Austrian Airlines - "A smile in the sky"! Our group was privileged to fly from Kharkiv to Vienna directly! We were blessed with good sponsors: Global-2000 organization. Leave a Comment

Stopping for road work by Martin_S. The amazing thing we found in Austria was the patience of the drivers. We stopped for road construction. As you can see in the picture there were a lot of us. Everyone got out of their cars, some had small picnics, some a drink, some lit up a cigarette and others just mingled, sort of like a asphalt nightclub. But most important nobody seemed too much in a hurry, or at least not pressured and this was in the middle of the work week. Leave a Comment Theme: Car/Motor Home

Plane, but take in account that the airport in Vienna has no excellent connection to the citycentre. Austria is also great to reach by car. People who are not used to driving in mountainous areas can be surprised... Take the highways and avoid the so called ' Landstrassen' if possible. Leave a Comment Theme: Other
