Life Long Ambition

by nhcram

Not a big deal to a lot of people but for me it took a lot of courage. Yes I did it. I went up a mountain in a chair lift. The view was spectacular and I was like a kid with new toy and didn't hide my feelings as to the enjoyment and sheer relief that I had managed to do it!All over Austria they can be seen and are safe and reliable.

Fiaker

by dr.firas

Now this is the most wanted and prestigious classy way to move in Vienna, like in former times, and just like lords and ladies, so tourists adore it, knowing this fact, it is the most expensive way of all existing transportation, we heard a tourist negotiating with the driver, and we heard the driver telling him in English, yes sir, half an hour for 60 Euros, God Damn, it is the price of the Bus ticket from France to Austria LOL!

Cabs

by dr.firas

Taxi is the second most expensive transportation tipe in Vienna, hee hee yes you will be surprised, actually the next tip coming will show you the most untypical expensive kind of all transportations, and it is only in Vienna!

Metro

by dr.firas

There is something about the metro in Vienna, please don't think I'm evil, but you can use it for free, LOL there are rarely a control on line, and you can pass for free, I did it Twice and Angelika was not happy LOLindeed I was taking a risk, so if you are ready to be responsible of your acts, do it, but don't blame me, I just spoke about facts, the risk you rake is your reponsibelity OK!

Tramway

by dr.firas

There are 2 kinds of Tramways in Vienna, the old one, and the new modernized one, they are both good, and there are basically no difference between the 2 except the outlook!it is the simple way to enjoy moving around Vienna, and really cheap!

Tip Photo
Euro Lines

by dr.firas

Euro Lines as all VTers know already from all my trips to Europe is my favorite transportation way, easy to go, you can sleep, really the cheapest way, and it is good organized with possible discounts when you book your trip 2 weeks before the date of the trip, don't hesitate, Euro Lines is your best choice, I know what I'm talking about!

Completely Reliable Trains

by Chrissey

The trains in Austria are always on time, or extremely near to it. If they are not then somebody is dead, because the trains are always on time! While I was there the train employees called a strike the first one in like 40 years. But they didn't strike it like they do in the States (i.e. drop everything immediately and walk off). They gave notice A MONTH in advance. The scheduled strike time came and went without any real striking to my knowledge and I knew people who were traveling throughout the country. I guess they just like to be on time, lucky for us tourists.

Train Travel in Austria

by Paul2001

Austria is one of the easiest countries in the world to travel in. The is because of the remarkably extensive network of railways that extend throughout the country. Trains in Austria travel frequently so that there is little wait time at stations while travel schedules are clearly posted. The trains are not that expensive to travel on and there is good system of passes that can be usedOne the great benefits of train travel in Austria is the remarkable vistas you see along the way. I have read in several travel magazines that some of the journeys are to be considered amongst the most beautiful train trips in the world. Sadly one of them, the trip from Bergenz to Innsbruck was taken in the rain and overcast so I could not see much in the way of mountain scenery. However that is one of the many superb trips you can take and my luck was better elsewhere in the country.

Use the tram in Vienna for a first tour

by diamond7

Vienna's extensive tram network (called strassenbahn or bim) has more than 30 routes. Trams are generally an efficient way of getting around with trams on most routes departing every five to ten minutes. Trams run underground in some parts of the city centre.

The Train to Krimml Falls

by Paul2001

If you are going to Krimml Falls from Zell em Zee, I might recommend that you take this delightful steamtrain trip. It is slower than the bus by about 15 minutes but the views of the Alps are lovely. Trains run five times a day up and down the mountain valley. The ride takes about 90 minutes. The cars themselves are quite small and rather quaint.
