Be careful about the difficulty of the slopes on the mountain. If you are a beginner at skiing then stick to the nursery slope on the bottom. There is also a particularily dangerous black run on the mountain (the large one on the opposite side of where the ski arena is near the drag lift that runs up another black run!). I personally nearly fell off the mountain and into a barbed wire fence on this run (never snowplough down there, you only speed up). Otherwise it's a great run for experts!
For Austria: don't throw trash from out of your car. You will get a ticket from the police. Very expensive. Don't swim in boxershortlike clothes in the pool. You will be removed immediately! Don't go to Austria when you are afriad of heights.Drive carefully in the small tunnels and along the ravines. Also deer can jump in front of your car at night

As exciting as it may seem to walk on an ice glacier, it is in fact extremely dangerous. This glacier is in the Stubial Alps, south of Innsbruck and it is where I think a fellow countryman of mine disappeared about a year before I visited the region. Do not walk alone on the glaciers because you could easily fall into a crevasse and that will be the last that anyone will hear from you. Well you remains might turn up several thousand years from now when after the crevasse finally reaches the end of the glacier and melts. Then you will only be some curiosity for an anthropologist. So you have been warned!

The weather in the Alps is very different. It can change in a few minutes. So you should have a little alpine pasture on your way. One time I came in this bad situatuion. The sun was shining but that many clouds arrived us and it started to rain. We would had become very wet if a car driver had not taken us in the valley to our car. We were very happy.

This can happen to you!'This unfortunate woman was found dead on parkland in Graz, Austria. She's believed to have been pierced by a shaft of frozen urine which had fallen from a leak in a toilet facility of an overhead plane.'

If travelling by car, don't forget to take snowchains with, in the mountains often you can simply not drive without them. Take also lots of antifreeze fluid and 'scratcher' to remove the snow from your car with.
In Austria danger for Tourists is not coming from other people. You can walk in every city easy in nighttime thru a park or a forrest if you like without any troubles. I never heard of any tourist beeing robbed. I beliefe the whole country is one of the safes places on earth.Danger is comeing from the nature. No animals here, who can be dangerous with their poison.(if not beaten by an ill fox or you scrumble over one of the estimated 20 bears, told to be mostly peacefull) dont pick and eat plants, if you dont know them especially mushroms. In the mountains most injuries happen.Half the country is alpine. In summer the unused climbers and hikers, who dont know aeras and forget about danger in high mountains. Remember a small mountain here can be more dangerous that a huge 4000meter one elsewhere in the world. In winter some tourists die every year, cause not listening to the authorities...
People who look like strangers from poor countries may have problems with the police, especially in regions close to the border to non-EU countries. I'm sure with the new government the situation is even worse.
Warning 1: If you go to the Freileichtsmuseum (at the village of Stuebing, near Graz, in Steiermark province) DO NOT drink the water in the little wooden trough. I did, and I ended up coming down with giarrdiasis. Warning 2: I really hate to say this, since foreigners in Austria are getting so much bad press anyway, but if you're a woman, avoid making eye contact with the immigrant men-- particularly the older ones. If you do, they're likely to leer at you and make suggestive comments. I even witnessed a 'grabbing.' My friend and I were walking down the street together, and this African guy just grabbed her arm and wouldn't let go of her-- like she was a doll or piece of meat instead of a person. Note: this problem may be peculiar to the city of Graz. I did not spend an extensive period of time in any other Austrian cities, so I wouldn't know for sure.
