Last years I prefer planes to trains and the last visit to Minsk was begun with Minsk airport. The airport is situated in 40 km around from the city. We were picked up by our friends, the information about transport you may find here: http://airport.by/en/transport/regular-route-bus
The ticket Moscow-Minsk-Moscow was RUR 8750 (USD 275) for the person with Aeroflot.

If You are in Sweden and You want an in-expensive trip to Belarus You should buy a ticket with BelAvia airlines. The planes doesn't live up to a very high quality because they aren't that new but there is nothing wrong with the service.
Metro, Trolly bus, Bus You take You pick.
Very in-expensive way to get around.
For the ones with a strong heart and those who don't scare easily there is always Taxi. It's more like sitting in a race car and it's a part of 'the Minsk Taxicab Racing Cup'. They are quite cheap though (if You measure it by Swedish cab-fare)

Airplane, train, bus, car.. all goes, depends on where you travelling from.
Use metro, the best and the fast way to get around in the city. Also there're trams, buses and electric-buses ('trolleybus'). Can buy the tickets from kiosks or even some depertment store kassa's.
The prices are really cheap, speacially for tourists.

If you click on the picture, you will probably notice a vehicle on it. That is Trolleybus - a kind of common transportation in Minsk. For those who have never tried such a thing, it is something in the middle between bus and tram. :)

There is a wonderful introduction to the Minsk subway available at an English language website: http://www.metropla.net/eu/min/minsk.htm. The fare is minimal, 60 Belarussian rubles (about 4 cents, in November 2001).

You will find public transport there quite efficient (though not eaxclty what you might call clean) and taxis relatively cheap.
Consider a taxi if you do not wish to travel crammed into a public means of transportation.

We used a taxi driven by Dima for three days. He is a safe driver and his mercedes was well maintained. He did not wait at the taxi ranks drinking from a bottle of beer as we saw frequently!.. Dima speaks a little english and some german. We would recommend him and his car as safe and reliable.

It is rather convinient to go to Belarus by train.
What was strange that on my way from Moscow to Minsk none asked me to show my passport. There is no border between countries, but what is more strange that even train conductors asked only for ticket.
One more interesting fact. At some big railway stations in former Soviet Union there is an interesting tradition - when train is departing towards Moscow one of the famouse millitary marches is relayed via station broadcast system, usually it is March "Farwell of Slavonic Woman". I saw custom is alive in Minsk and in Feodosia (Ukraine).
Background music and text is here: "Farwell of Slavonic Woman"
(Midi file is here: Proschanie Slavyanki , Karaoke version (with better music) is here: Proschanie Slavyanki )
