Although the famous Russian poet Alexander Pushkin had never really visited Minsk, a bronze figure commemorating his 200th anniversairy has been erected in the Belarusian capital.

It was given to the city as a gift from Moscow and unveiled on the 10th of July 1999 on a spot where once a pagan temple stood.

The Alexander Pushkin Monument is located on the left bank of the Svisloch River, just below the well known Hotel Belarus.
