The 45 metres tall Minsk Hero City Obelisk was unveiled in 1985. It commemorates the fact that on the 26th of June 1974 Minsk was among the 12 Soviet cities, which were granted the title "Hero City" for their heroic defence during the Great Patriotic War (WWII).
Next to the obelisk a bronze statue of a woman with a trumpet can be found. It is the sculpture of the so called Motherland, which is the symbol for victory and glory.
Directions:
The Minsk Hero City Obelisk stands in the Victory Park (Park Pobedy), which is situated north of the city centre. The Obelisk can be found at the crossing of the streets Pobediteley and Masherova Bulevard.
