Troitskoye Predmestye (Trinity Suburb) is name of Minsk’s old town. The name of this part of city is coming from the former Trinity Church that once stood in the area.
This area was build between 1982 and 1985 on the site of a former settlement dating from the 12th century, Trinity offer a nice time from sprawling concrete of the city center during summer. This is also birthplace of the Belarusian poet and journalist Maxim Bogdanovich. In the area you could find several restaurants and bars.
Troitskoye Predmestie (Settlement of Trinity) is a small district of so called Minsk old town. This place was firstly mentioned in 1067. The buildings in old town are not as old as in other old towns - these in Minsk are from 19th century.
It is interesting to see, that the main street of small old town is called "Old Vilnius street" and actually it looks like in Vilnius old town.
This is what is supposed to be the old town of Minsk. In reality it's all brand new, and you can easily see it by yourself walking around the tiny cobblestoned streets of Troïskoie Predmestie. It's very nice seen from the other side of the river, but once you are there it really looks too pretty and perfect to be true, and in fact it's a reconstruction. Warszawa's old town reconstruction is something very far from here, maybe also Troïskoie Predmestie after some decades will look more "original", by now it's probably the main touristic spot in Minsk and surely a small district nice to look at, expecially compared to the the huge apartments blocks which are there around...
