While wandering the streets of Brugge in came upon the Stedelijk Museum voor Volkskunde where they were holding a festival. The festival featured craftmens, and artisans building shoes, carving woodwork, blowing glass and all sorts of things that they did in the centuries gone by. Some of the craftsmen where in period outfits which added some flavour to the proceedings. There were also people folk dancing and choirs singing in costumes. It was all very cute and the sort of thing that usually brings in the tourists. The museum itself is housed in a a series of low whitewashed buildings. To be honest I saw little of it myself. From what I saw it featured alot of displays of silkwork, lace, and folk costumes. All were very well displayed. There are apparently recreations of old shops and school rooms. I did experience some of the beer is the recreation of an old inn called "the Black...
Belgium has only one nude beach , andit is only there since a couple of years.Activist have been asking for years fora spot like this. Now it is there , it is rather small andthe few sunny days there are it is crowded.(But maybe that is just what you wanted?)In July and August a lifeguard is present.Easy to reach by public transport ,take the train to Oostende and thenthe coast tram to Knokke. Ask the driver.
Again in the main big square of Antwerp where it is actually the continuation and the backyard of the Cathedral square, you can swim in the beauty of the French cafe's and nice shopping magazines, and thousands of people with no cars to bother, just walk and have fun!
My VT friends are used to see many living statues *Actors ala baggers* but every time they are just white, those human statues are simply Unbelievable!I mean take a look and tell me for God sake, would you ever believe they are not real statues!!!!One of them had a hit by a hammer from Boniunia LOL
Just like the day when I went to Metz in France by chance it was a day of Protests!but a fun protests for the watcher, it is so wonderful as show, in peaceful way people protests here with nice music and clothes and walking and dances!
Well just like many other cities in the world, and especially European ones, Antwerp was the pride of many genius people who were born there, a statue is a prove of this, and that the city don't forget!
This new status of the modern art of this I was sure that somone will have a sit on that hand, I was waiting and chasing, and here a nice cute boy went just like I wished him tooClick click nice pic! LOL
North of Knokke there is a wildlife reserve. Rent a bike and pedal around it. There are trails around it. We even took a short ride over the Dutch border into the town of Sluis. I'd highly reccomend it.
Last of the beaten path is this beautiful one, please enlarge the photo and see the magical effect of the picture, as if the people are walking on a bridge that isolates the under path, but it is just the human eye playing tricks, take a better look again and tell me what is all about ;-)
