The painting is set all around the walls of this circular building, and with its 110 m of circumference for 12m high, it is the third biggest painting in Europe and can be considered as a master piece in the matter of pictural military art. It represents the first charge of the French cavalry led by marchal Ney.
The perspective effect contributes to show the state of the battle at full scale, as it was on June, 18th 1815 around 4 pm. Artifacts have been added to make the scenery look more real. Little boards give you some indications about the directions and the armies.
