It is nice to sit on a terrace in the summer time, and have a look at the Grand-Place and the people strolling by. At Taverne Henri, you can do so while eating a good and cheap sandwich, warm or cold, and have a refreshing drink ! Or maybe you would prefer a sandwich to take away and eat it in the Mayor's Garden ?
Sandwiches are very cheap, around 2 euros.

One of the many bars in the square of Mons, but with the best food, in my opinion.
Please say hello to the barman, David, from Craig and Laura. He speaks excellent English, but with a Leeds accent!! Take the mick out of him for it!!!
Favorite Dish: The Chef, Gert, makes the greatest Homemade Lasgane I have ever tasted. I have travelled many miles to it the Lasgane at La Royale, it is truely wonderful.
The rest of the menu is very good too, but my top recommendation is the Lasgane.

Where to go when guys wanted to impress their belles, or simply when one wants to enjoy some quality "pastry time".
Well, what can I say ? It's on the Grand-Place. Interior is nice with glass everywhere. It's a lovely place for winter days: grenat furniture gives it some warmth.
Favorite Dish: I could only taste their pastry and chocolate: yummy, with hot chocolate or tea. I remember the mille-feuilles was to die for.
Besides, I know Saey delivers sandwiches and other snacks for business cleintýle (for your meetings...). The sandwiches were delicious too !

Food is great, not a big restaurant, rather a poshy snack with simple but savourous French-style dishes: chicken turnover, fish gratin... tapas, salads.
Same as for Baroc boutiques (accessories, home furniture), I like the charming setting with bright colours. I appreciate paintings hanging on walls a well.
Open from 10am to 4.30pm, exception on Wednesday: till 4pm.
Closed on Saturdays and Sundays
Open on some bank holidays
Easy parking. Non-smoker room.
Favorite Dish: I cannot remember of the name of dish. Surely, it was a kind of salad dish with horseradish sauce and a perfect rosti. Delicious!
Plat du jour from 8.00?.
Price on the menu card (starter, dish, dessert, without wine) ranges from 6.00? to 8.00?.

A simple setting, one of still genuine Chinese cuisines one would have in Mons, imho. Well, simply put, it's not the cheapie and popular type of Chinese restaurant.
The entry hall is a nice one with a small pond (!) with koi fishes, if I recall it well. There is a small bridge you will walk in.
Once in, the setting is rather classic, not the kitsch touch you would find in many Chinese restaurants. Above all: the food is delicious !
Service is great and personnel, very caring also. At a time, my friend and I thought we were kids. She had a Hong Kong style lacquered duck. It went with some rice cr?pes. One has to roll the duck meat, the sauce and green onions in cr?pes. The waitress spent a lot of time rolling my friend's duck meat in the cr?pes. But then, we said "it's OK, we can do it". She left us. Still, once in a while, she asked us whether it was fine or not, whether we enjoyed or not. Nice !
I went there twice and twice I was really satisfied. Go there. It's not expensive, though a bit of upscale compared to Chinese and Vietnamese restaurants in the area.
Favorite Dish: Lacquered duck.
I rated it compared to Chinese restaurants in the area.

From outside, the restaurant is charming. You can see through the windows nice tables with candles and oriental lamps. Entering the restaurant is quite impressive as with a shadowy light and oriental curtains and veils, it keeps all its mystery. But once, you have your seat, the whole conveys a feeling of intimacy, warmth. You'd hear Indian music that softly accompanies conversations.
You do not have to wait for a long time to be taken care of. While waiting for meal to come, they serve Indian snacks with chutneys (quite common wth Indian restaurants). Dishes arrive: good food and correct quantity. And you start eating in a half-light made of candle and lamps... Hmmm... To die for.
Favorite Dish: Chicken korma... Sauce is generous, thick, and not too heavy.. Sweet!
Their curry dishes are yummy as well.
I also appreciated this rice cooked with spices (cardamon), great smell and savourous taste.
So far, it is the best Indian cuisine I've ever tried in Belgium. I appreciated it so did an Indian-Pakistanese friend who made it there.

Elegant restaurant, cosy. Discreet personnel, however effective and caring. Though Italians make the bulk of Mons population, it is difficult to find North italian food. It seems that pizzeria and Sicilian restaurants are typical of Mons gastronomy. You seem to be lucky if you could find a North Italian food restaurant.
I appreciated in this restaurant the freshness of food, the respect of ingredients taste. Menu of the days (suggestion du chef) is announced on a slate board.
It was a great experience, esp. since I was just invited.
In a corner, on the wall: pictures of stars that ate there. Among them, bellissima Ornella Mutti
Closed on wednesdays and saturday noon
Garden and terrace available.
Favorite Dish: Ate there once but loved the carpaccio, the fish dish and sabayone

This cafe is situated on the "Grand Place" and is one of the most famous of Mons. It is an old style café with a very nice wooden fassade outside and also wooden furnitures inside. There is a special atmosphere and as inhabitant of Mons, you can meet there a lot of persons you know. It's the cafe where I go with members of my family :-)

First I loved the place, it is a little house with warm colors...red curtains, candels and "rustic" atmosphere... The dishes I tasted were delicious : new, with a international accent, wel presented and of course very good! And I loved also the personnal and friendly service!!! It is a pleasure to be cherished like that !
This resto is also a little theater and on certain saturdays nights, you can enjoy a show and a meal for 14 €!
Favorite Dish: The appetizer was great : toasts and italian grissini you can dip in three different sauces : dried tomatoes, curry and pesto... I asked som toasts to finish the cups!!!!
As main dish, I loved the "Brick" with tomatoes en gorgonzolla, Parma ham and salad .... delicious! It is a kind of very thin moroccan crepe baked in the hoven and fulled with tomatoes, parma ham and cheese.
And last but not least : the dessert : "truc de ouf" : bread dipped in milk and backed in the hoven with chocolade powder on it and ice... wawwwwwwwwwwwwww!
