Just about everywhere in Liège you can see these typical brick houses, often built in the nineteenth or early twentieth centuries.
The three houses in these photos were all built in the year 1896. I took these photos on the street called rue Auguste-Buisseret (formerly rue de Kinkempois) in the Guillemins district at the south end of Liège, near the new Guillemins station.
Second photo: The three houses.
Third photo: 1896 on another house.

Tchantches is the name of the most popular folklore puppet of the Outremeuse part of the city.
According to a legend, he appeared from between 2 stones in the ground in 760. As a baby he preferred the local gin (pékèt) to the milk his mother gave him.
Tchantshes stars in puppet theatres which still give performances in Liège.

I had the privelege of helping to set up and also attending a wedding Reception in Liege. They did a variety of stange little dances and more common ones like the 'tunnel dance' Mostly to american oldies the men also made 'do-rags' out of napkins (I dont know if this is a tradition or just them being strange).
