The River Meuse (aka Maas) flows through Liège. During my visit, I took a short stroll along the river. To get to the walking path along the river, you need to cross a fairly busy street.

The Opera Royal de Wallonie is the city's main opera house. It is steps away from the Place Saint Lambert. In front of the opera house is an old statue of local composer Gretry.

Just like the Saint Bartholomew Church the Town Hall has been beautifully restored. It stands at the Place du Marche right across from the Perron column.

The shopping centre has a very modern look to it. It has several floors of shops. The Saint Lambert Square in front of it is the main meeting place for the people of Liege.

This church has been recently restored. It is one of the better looking buildings in Liege. In front of the church there is a spacious square with benches and hungry pigeons.

The Perron is a column that stands at the market square in the heart of Liege. It represents the freedom for the people of Liege.

If the facade of the palace had to be rebuilt, the courtyard is the original Renaissance masterpiece of Belgian architecture, with magnificent voulted porticoes.

The Town Hall was built in the 18th century on the site where the so-called La Violette from the 13th century used to stand. That's where the city magistrates used to meet.
