The River Meuse (aka Maas) flows through Liège. During my visit, I took a short stroll along the river. To get to the walking path along the river, you need to cross a fairly busy street.

Just like the Saint Bartholomew Church the Town Hall has been beautifully restored. It stands at the Place du Marche right across from the Perron column.

The size, location and splendor of this palace make it the focal point of Liege. The vast Saint Lambert Square in front of it is the main meeting point for the local people.

This church has been recently restored. It is one of the better looking buildings in Liege. In front of the church there is a spacious square with benches and hungry pigeons.

If the facade of the palace had to be rebuilt, the courtyard is the original Renaissance masterpiece of Belgian architecture, with magnificent voulted porticoes.

The Town Hall was built in the 18th century on the site where the so-called La Violette from the 13th century used to stand. That's where the city magistrates used to meet.
