    Glessner Monument

    Reportedly Ernest Glessner was the first American to die at Bastogne in Sept 1944. This turret and monument commemorate his sacrifice at this spot. It is on the main road into Bastogne, N85.

    This was the headquarters for General McAuliffe. When the Germans asked for surrender it was at this farmhouse that McAuliffe responded "Nuts".
    It is a private residence at the moment.

    When you arrive in Bastogne main square, you can start your trip back into the WW2 simply looking in the middle of the square, you'll see a fantastic old thank.

    This huge memorial is a tribute from the Belgium population to the American People. From its top, you can see Bastogne about 2 km away, and it explains where the main battles took place.

    This magnificent square is located in the middle of Bastogne. It is in honor of the US Army 101st Airborne General Anthony McAuliffe. Here you can find old Sherman tanks, Jeeps, etc.

    Just outside of the town center, alongside the road to Arlon, is a little park where at the back one can see the monument of GENERAL PATTON, the liberator of Bastogne.

    The center of the city with many terraces, shops, etc...(it is called the Mc Auliffe-square
    On the corner stands an American Sherman Tank as a symbol of the US victory in 1944.
