  • Safari Park

Another attraction here is the safari park. You travel through the grounds on a similar tram as the one which takes you to the caves. Animals they have here include wolves, brown bears, lynx, wild boar, deer, horses. We did not do the safari, mainly because it was pouring with rain & quite cold. But on the grotto tram to the caves overlooking the...

  • Grotto of Han

There are a few grottos/caves to visit in this area, we decided on the ones at Han because of the novelty of a boat ride in the caves & the tram which takes you to the entrance of the caves. As well as the caves here you can also have a ride around a small safari park, and a museum of The Subterranean World. Plus the usual, cafe & gift shop.

  • The Han's Grotto

You take a small train for about 10 minutes in the country. Very nice surroundings. Then you arrive at the grotto entrance when you can choose your guide (french/english/dutch/german/italian).You have a guided tour and a small show inside. It is very beautiful and a Must See Acitivity!!

  • The Ardennes

There are many things to do while in Belgium. You could drink and sample the hundreds of different kinds of beers, which is what I did. Or you could take trips to the different regions. I must admit, I enjoyed visiting the Ardennes(Dinant and Han).

  • Grottes de Han-sur-Lesse

If you are traveling to Belgium, the Ardennes is a must! But more specifically, the Grottes de Han(caves of Han). I didn't know what to expect when I was there but boy was I surprised. When I first entered the cave, I thought to myself, "This better not be boring." And I was way off. Words can not even describe the beauty of this cave.

  • River lesse

Running through the town of Han is the River Lesse, quite a small river only running 52 miles before it enters the River Meuse after winding through the caves of Han.On the bridge as it seems all over this area of Belguim are flags of Britain, America, Canada, Belgium commemorating the war. From tourist information I picked up it seems the river is...

  • Han Sur Lesse

The caves are the main draw for people to visit Han, the town itself although small seems very pleasant & relaxing. The day we visited was very reminicent of the the song words "holiday town in the rain". Plenty of cafes & gift shops, most closed up apart from the hardy few. I imagine this place gets very busy in season considering large seating...

  • The Boat

The last part of the tour is on a large boat which takes to out the the lower entrance. From here it is only about a 500m walk to the town. The boat tour was the main reason why I chose the Han caves to visit & I have to say I was quite disappointed. You are only on the boat for a few minutes, much of this you can see the daylight. I was expecting a...

  • Once at the caves you disembark

Once at the caves you disembark the tram & line up in your language groups. There were not many english speakers so we had a guy who spoke french & english. The underground tour is roughly 3km long, non slip boots are recommended, especially if you are like me, very accident prone! As expected lots of steps, but still an easy walk. There are some...

Favorite thing: If you are tired of walking and strolling around, then get settled in one of the many pubs and enjoy a local beer.

the park, the caves and... yes! a beer! `-)
