Close to the river, there's this Church of Hotton. It's a rather modern church, with squared limestone rubble walls.

In front of the church there's the monument to the dead of the 2 wars.

Concerts are regularly organised in the church and when we visited the village, there was a fair nearby.

The Oneux Island

In the very centre of this lovely village is the Oneux island, surrounded by large poplar trees. It's ideal for organising events, for walking, resting, swimming, fishing and relaxation.

The island was formed by the Ourthe River and the millstream.

At the tip of the island there's a very attractive kiosk, built between 1924 and 1938. The kiosk was completely restored in 1983.

Hotton cave

If you follow the signs to the cave you will perhaps wonder if you are really on the correct way. The street to the cave is small, rather a tared country lane. The building at the cave is not big, too, but there's a little cafeteria inside, and there's a free car park in front of the cave.

The cave itself is very nice, lots of stalagtites and stalagmites and narrow paths with several grid stairs. I mostly was impressed by walking through a huge kind of cleft that wasn't very wide but quite high. Guided tours take about one hour and are usually in French and Flemish. When our guide noticed that there are some Germans, she also explained everything in German. She could speak English and Italian, too, so you should ask your guide if you'd like some information in other languages than French and Flemish!

Opened from 10-17 (April until October)
Admission: adults 8 Euro ,children 6 Euro

Hotton

Hotton - I don't know much about this village in the Belgian Ardennes. We haven't seen much of the village as we only visited the cave and then went on to visit La-Roche-en-Ardenne. In any case the......
