    Mountain climbing around Dinant

The palace of Dinant as seen from the citadelle

Maybe you would never have guessed (-: but in Dinants environment there are various places for rockclimbing. No, the rock under the citadelle, doesn't belong to the possibilities as it is not allowed. Climbing here in the Meuse (Maas) valley must be a special experience as for the views over the river while ascending the rocks.

The hard way ... to the citadelle

To reach the citadelle one can take the cablelift. However ... it would be a real sport to go up by stairs! Make a real sport of it by also descending again by them and if you are athletic (or crazy ..) do the same thing ten times (-: Now, that's topsport!

Equipment: Good shoes, a bottle of water and no brains (the last is not a must, but it helps)!

Monastry on the other side of the river Meuse

Canoeing / kayaking is very popular in the Ardennes. At times that there is a lot of water in the rivers Ambleve, Ourthe and Lesse (name three most popular) there are various posibilities towards wild-water canoeing as well. Throughout the year it is more touristic canoeing, but as much fun because the scenery is just amazing here in the green Ardennes.
