    It is a small shop loaded with chocolates and
    sweets. One little box was asking for attention.
    ' Les 'BIETRUMé' de Namur'
    I didn't knew what it was and I never heard
    about them either. STRANGE!

    They ware the best caramels I ever had.
    They come in two different sorts in one box.
    A bit one the expensive side...but a must if
    you are a sweet tooth like I am.

    You can buy paté at the supermarket , but I think
    you'll never find them better then in the 'ardennes'.
    They got a tradition preparing these.

    What are they?
    It is meat from ducks , rabbitts , game mixed
    with liver and spices and baked in the oven.
    How to eat it?
    When it is creamy people smear it on a
    sandwish. I like it best served as an appetizer
    with a salad and dressing and some
    onion jam or strawberry jelly...not a large
    portion. It is quit heavy.

    If you want to take a souvenir or something
    typical from Namur go and have a look at
    'ceramique de Namur'

    For 50 years Odette Dijeux has made all
    kinds of objects for home.
    A little tile with 'le petit grise' or a local figure
    only cost 4 euro....

    You can also buy some religuous objects.
    It's not my thing , but maybe you'll like it.

    Namur has quit a large market. Every saturday
    morning it covers almost half of the city center.
    You can't miss it.

    Have a closer look at the dried meat sellers.
    Also some merchants who sell straight from the
    farm are highly recommended as well as
    bread baked in a wood oven.

    Go for it!

  • I spent an afternoon in Namur around Halloween in 2005. The town is not too far away from Brussels. If you wanted to spend a day there, it is very easy to get to, since it takes only 30-45min by train to get there. I absolutely loved the little boutiques they had in the city. It was only November, but I was looking for some continental Christmas presents for the children of my British friends. I did almost all of my Christmas shopping there and then because I liked the stuff so much :-)

    Although Namur's a small town, you can find several streets you can go shopping, such as Rue de Fer (Iron Str), Rue de l'Ange (Angel's Str), Rue de Bruxelles (Brussels' Str) and Rue Emile Cuvelier.
