The castle Montaigle was build in the 14th century on a rock and destroyed in the 16th century so that there are only ruins nowadays.

There are signs to the castle and there's a rather little parking on a country road at some houses. We almost missed the sign to it. From there, it's about 500 m to the castle, and from this way you already have a beautiful view on it. At the entrance, there is a small museum with a model of the earlier castle and several things they've found during the excavations. Fascinating what all has been found there! You'll also get a paper with a map of the ruins and explanations what each place had been earlier. The ruins are interesting, but there's really not much left. And there's not much secured, if you go there with children you have to take care!

Opened from 10:00 to 18:00, April to October at week-ends/holidays, July/August every day

    Admission: 4 Euro (adults)

Here's another photo of the castle. There have been restaurations, you can see here at the two towers what efforts need to be done so that they don't collapse. On the homepage of the ruins, you can read a lot about the technique of the restaurations - if you know French!
