Les Jardins d'Annevoie

by Helga67

Les Jardins d'Annevoie is a beautiful and the only water park in Belgium. It consists of a grand canal, a grotto and some twenty ornamental pools with fountains, cascades and fifty waterjets which work by gravity alone without the help of any pumps. The gardens were laid out during the 18 century by Charles-Alexis de Montpellier. The Montpellier family owned the castle and gardens until 2000. The gardens are mainly french style with some Italian and English style. You can walk the 28 hectare park in about 1.5 hours. There is also a play ground for children, gift shop and restaurant.Entrance: 7.5 EUROpen from 1 April to 5 November, from 9:30 to 17:30

Dinant

by Helga67

Dinant is a small town on the Meuse River. The town has two impressive buildings: the Citadel and the Cathedral of Notre Dame. The Citadel overlooks the town from a 100 meter cliff which can be reached by a steep cable car or by a 420-step staircase carved into the rock. It houses the Museum of Armaments. From the top you will have a spectacular view of the Meuse River. There is also a restaurant, a terrace, and a play ground for children.Especially during the weekend, Dinant is a very lively tourist spot.Did you know that the inventor of the saxophone, Adolphe Sax, was born here?
