Having a drink with a good friend in Antwerp
(Pub "Het Waagstuk" or free translated " The Stunt"! - i remember we were discussing the fact that it would be a public "stunt" or risk to take her once to my beautiful Ghent .
- see my danger tip on the Ghent report - a fallen Angel (lol)
(Picture taken by Tom and Gonnie)
No misunderstandings :
- Het Waagstuk is a pub at "Stadswaag" where they use to take official data of wheight
- Mort Subite is a "Gueuze" beer - made in the Brabant Region
- Danielle is a very good friend
- Ghent is the best place to be - so no misunderstandings
And Tom and Gonnie are good friends too who introduced th" "Zero" euro coin - but we noticed it on time !! So again - no misunderstandings
Unexpected experience in the Pub "Paeters Vaetje" - located in the "Blauwmoezelstraat 1 - 2000 Antwerpen so near the Cathedral.
Danielle wanted to tell me something - but was it about the condition of my body parts ? Or was it about a typical local custom - drinking genevers - in Antwerp the content of a bottle is smaller than in Ghent ???
In Antwerp only 6.5 % vol - in Ghent 8% vol
(remark of Tompt who was a guest aswell that day - the 7th of Feb
Typical dutch isn't it -those people introduced the Euro coin of "0" euro)
After a terrific day, soaking up the sun and walking discovering Antwerp city, I ended up having a delicious bbq.
Now, you ask, how was it possible? Well, simple!
The day I went to Antwerp was the last school day in Belgium. Many schools and classes organize events to celebrate the year end. Then, Dannie and myself were invited to bbq party of Dannie's daughter's class.
I tasted there De Koninck beer, a local brewery beer. I admit I didn't appreciate it. Too bitter for me. The Duvel beer that Dannie let me discover was tasty, instead!
Invited by Irisbe - meeting with a lot of VT members from the Netherlands - Germany - even the UK and the US.
Not to forget Diamonddog and B.Caro.
We had a great time - thx to the organisation of Danielle and Rudy ! Look at their pages !
Antwerp by night - guided by a local artist and his friend - another way to look at Antwerp !
BTW - picture taken by Irisbe - in a moment of
tasting belgian beers - the famous one's !
The lady in front of us was part of their local press. We happened to be here when they arrived, we didn't attend. VT member krisl, who lives in Antwerp, was kind enough to inform me that the folks here were a union, protesting politicans in general as well as the war.
So we left the jevenever bar De Vagant and we went crossed the Suikerrui. That is the short street that leads you from the market place to the Schelde.
Here Jeff and Yvonne went up the terras to take some wonderful pictures of the city lights! Do take a look at their pages (Yvonne=Xowe) still working on hers for the moment).
Tompt took this picture of the group
From left to right (disregarding for or background):
Daniel (globlefox), Tom (Tompt), Giuseppe (Procaccini), Rudy (Diamonddog), Carin (Catnl), Danielle (Irisbe), Martin (Martin_nl), John (Piggy73), Mariangela (Sapere)
Absolutly a must to have this Antwerp Nightlife guide Johnny and his wife - and thxs to Irisbe, we visited a part of the famous Antwerp pubs and bars !
We have seen several interiors of famous Antwerp Pubs - we' ve tasted different beers
like "Bollekes" and "Hoegaarden" and ....
It was a great VT meeting - socializing and showing Antwerp by night.
The guides and artist of the evening.
You can hire them - they will guide you through the streets of Antwerp - pub by pub and sing their "dirty" songs.
Antwerp - another view !
What is so special - handmade and driving only forward !
You can meet this car near the central station of Antwerp !
When you're around a government building, you might just see government officials. I'm not sure who this is. Does anyone know? Someone mentioned the government was resigning for some kind of scandal.
