Luggage and bags: IF your are the type of person that likes to shop...
.just one tip for you. Leave enough space in
    your luggage. Antwerp is

    'the' shopping city of Belgium.'

If you come by airplane maybe it is useful to
check how much luggage is allowed.

If you are having a long walk in summer...

by Norali Updated Feb 25, 2004

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Luggage and bags: Backpack for bottle of water + cameras + maps and films... A handbag is not that handy if you have to take pictures..

Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: Walking shoes + cotton socks, of course!! With my leather derby shoes, I had troubles at the end of the day since the soil was hot. My feet hurted a bit after quite 8 hours of walk.

Toiletries and Medical Supplies: For 8 hours of walk during summer days, don't forget your Cityblock, Sunblock or other high SPF and coverage cream.

Photo Equipment: Zoom equipment to shoot those breathtakingly beautiful monuments and places... Memory sticks or more films...

Miscellaneous: Maps if you are doing it alone (no guiding)..

    Take Empty Cases

by steventilly Written Feb 25, 2003

Luggage and bags: Take a supply of EMPTY suitcases and bags. We collected so much stuff to take back home that we could barely cope with it all. We eneded up with way too many carry-on bags for the airline, but as they were only 1/2 full on our plane they allowed us on. And this was after we filled all available space in our cases with stuff too.

Luggage and bags: Backpack or suitcase.

Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: Dress lightly in summer, but always bring along warm clothes too! It suddenly can rain or get cold. In autumn, winter and spring you will have to bring warm clotes & a raincoat.

Photo Equipment: Film is available here, you can also get your film developped here.

Miscellaneous: On the picture: ships at the river Schelde.

Miscellaneous: ATMs and Plastic money: they are the most convenient way to take your money abroad. You get lots of benefits and (almost!!) no problems.

You'll get lower exchange rate than if you were to exchane your cash, and you will pay lower commissions than if you came up with a travel cheque. But, above all, you'll get safety: you will not be crying over money lost forever even if your ATM card gets stolen. And, even more than that, you can pay in many shops by a plastic card.

But, however, here are some important rules to keep in mind:
    1) Do use Electron/Cirrus/any other debit card for withdrawals, as any other thing will be considered a cash advance,
2)Try to take out money few times but in bigger sums so as not to accumulate fees,
    3) If you loose you card call the issuing company immediatley and better call you bank, too, to block the card.

    Packing List

    by Jeff_thebeaz Updated Aug 26, 2002

Luggage and bags: Keep it light. Laundry valets in the hotels or laundry mats are available. Warm jacket is a must in winter months

Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: Comfortable shoes and a water resistant jacket

Photo Equipment: gotta have a camera. I would suggest a good digital camera with 2.4 or better resolution because or the architectural details of gothic structures. A good disposable is not a bad idea eitherl

    Miscellaneous: UMBRELLA!

Miscellaneous: It is a great idea to arrive in this city with some room in your suitcase, bag or backpack, so you will be able to take home some delicious chocolate, or even some of the beautiful Diamond jewellery that this city is so well known for.

Luggage and bags: Caro looks to be wearing the richiedisc backpack here. ;)

Toiletries and Medical Supplies: Tums for upset your heart out, Steve. ;>

Miscellaneous: A great companion on a pub crawl is essential. Caro proves that it does not have to be someone that drinks beer for beer with you, but someone that can listen to your drunken ramblings for over twelve hours and keep a smile on their face. She's a great guide even if she couldn't find the Kulminator without me. :P

Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: Easy :-) since this is Belgium it's absolutely necessary to have something to protect you from rain. This is one of the most interesting stories with Belgium: the weather changes several times a day and very quickly ... after a while you'll love this dynamic situation !!!

And it's moderately windy as well ...

Photo Equipment: No problem for digicam batteries rechargers or new batteries ...

Any season is Belgian season so....

by sandmoon Updated May 10, 2007

Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: in summer: pack as well summer clothes as winter clothes, because you never know whether it is going to be 30° or 12°!!!!
in winter: winter clothes will be sufficient, but no ski pack necessary :-)
