Amadeus is a great restaurant with its top speciality: unlimited spare ribs.
The outside may be less attracting, the inside of the restaurant offers 100% good food and quick service. Long tables are waiting for your party. The ribs are a fest to eat. Served on a wooden rectangular plate with a jacked potatoe and some vegetables. The waiter will come along to bring you more meat after you finish the first serving. Bones are collected in separate bowls and napkins are widely available. Otherewise find you way via the small round down stairs to the basement toilets to wash your hands.
Drinks are no problem. Wine bottles are already on the tables and there is a wide variety of beers.
The prices are amazingly low. A good meal with drinks is about 20 Euros.
This chain has branches at Gent and Brussels too.
Favorite Dish: Spare ribs
This place is another great culinary experience you'll have in Antwerp. At a fixed price of about 15 Euro you will get the restaurant's specialty - Spareribs a volonte or simply "Ribbekes". Ribbekes will arrive to your table accompanied by a baked potato which tastes really great, however, I doubt you'll ever finish this side dish, because ribbekes will never stop arriving to your table. Yes, this is the "eat as much as you can" place. If you're a slow eater and take your time with food, don't worry, you'll still be offered more ribs because hot dish tastes better than a cold one and the restaurant's owners are well aware of it. For those who don't like spare ribs other dishes are served as well, but why would you order them at Amadeus? Additionally to their food great selection of wine and beer is offered and of course some desserts (good luck finishing them though after eating the endless main course).
The restaurant is located in an old glassfactory. There is still much glass in the interiour of the restaurant. The entire atmosphere breaths something like the 1900's.
At the table you will find a huge bottle of housewine. After the meal they measure how much you drank and you have to pay for that amount. Ofcourse you can order other drinks too........
The restaurant is famous for its spareribs. They serve it a volonte, which means you can get as much as you want, for one fixed price (12.50 Euro in nov 2004).
Favorite Dish: Well Tom was exited about the spareribs, served with an unskinned potatoe and a sweet sauce.
But Gonnie had the lamb, which was simply delicious, served with an unskinned potatoe and salad as well.
This restaurant is located in an old mirror/glass factory. This is still visible in the exclusive interior, all coloured glass and wood.
You sit at a wooden table on a chair or a bench. The bottle of housewine is at the table. You just can drink of it or leave it, up your choice, but what you drink you must pay afterwards of course!.
Favorite Dish: Spare ribs à volonté, that is what this place is known for. You have a choice what you want to eat with it but I usually prefere an unskinned potatoe with a mjammie garlick sauce in it.
They have other meals as well but I only go here because of the spare ribs!
For other meals or complete menu you will have to pay a little more.
The spare ribs a volonte are at 12,5 Euro in 2004.
They are open 7/7 days
There are also filliates of Amadeus in Gent and Brussels.
Favorite Dish: Wednesday evening (after the notorious pubcrawl on Saturday night) I joined Danielle (Irisbe), Rudy (Diamonddog) and Leroy (Brewdog) for dinner in the Amadeus, famous for its spare ribs.
