Being in Belgium you will have to try a waffle/gaufre. Desiree de Lille is definately a place to go, although most of the time it will be very busy, it might be difficult to get a place and you will not be attended very friendly (but being in Belgium, you will have to get used to that. Belgiums are not top regarding customer service, no matter if being in restaurants or shops, it is just simply their way of being.) Ok, back to the sweet stuff.
Favorite Dish: I loved the waffle with the cherry sauce and cream. Also the smoutebollens are great.

Another great place where you can have famous Belgian waffles and pancakes. According to Dannie (Irisbe), this place serves the best waffles.
One tip though, make sure you have something with your waffle, like syrup, ice cream or both, because the waffle itself is totally tasteless!
Pancake with hot cherries is really delicious, if they only didn't mix them with hot vanilla! ;-)

This is 'the taste of the city' as they say
themselves. It is a large tea-room with an
historical garden where it is nice to sit in
during the summer... You wont know what to
choose and taste first.
Favorite Dish: Lacquemants -
This is a sort of waffle you wont find
anywhere else with a very special sauce.
Brussels waffels - lots of icecream
with fresh fruit or advocado...
Smoutebollen - little parts of pastry
baked in oil
Beignets - smoutebollen but
with fruit in it...(belgian doughnuts)
Also salads and small snacks...

I don't know still what I have to think of this place. A few years ago I was here and I had to protect my plate and my half finished glass with coke because they were so eager here to get rid of you after you had ordered and paid to make room for new costumers.
I was really really disappointed about the bad bad service then.
But admitting, they have maybe the best Brussels waffles here in the Antwerp area.
Lots of people mistake the terrible smelling warm sugar waffels at the different vendor locations as the famous waffels. The real Brussels waffle is far more better.
Favorite Dish: Desire de Lille is to my opinion not really cheap. So consider to pay a little bit more then average.
The place is huge and there is a nice terrace inside that keeps you away from the street sounds, although, not so much complaining about noise on the street, certainly not of traffic, as Desire de Lille is settled in a pedestrian area

I think the Belgian waffles here might just be a little bit better than the ones in the US. But just a little. Definitely their fancy way of serving them is unique and I would heartily recommend having a true Belgian waffle here. It was claimed to be the best by a local as well.

This is the favorite Tea Room of one of my Belgian friends. It was difficult to tell if the patrons were mostly tourists or locals. It was a lively restaurant and seemed to be the place of choice for many people. The service was good and so was the food.
Favorite Dish: Savory Crepes filled with cheese, ham, mushrooms and tomato!
